O.k. thanks, I'm in the very beginning stages. Taylor Alexandra did you go to your interview without it?
I copied and pasted this from the CBSA site: You must complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) and pass the tests before you begin training. You do not need a possession and acquisition license (PAL).

So I have some time, right?
I had mine done and handed over the papers.

You just need it done before training. So before they send out an offer of employment. You have time

Hi everyone,

I'm a first time poster, but I have been following this forum for quite some time now. I really appreciate everyone posting updates, it's very informative.

Anyways, I understand that timelines are really unpredictable and having patience is KEY... Patience truly is a virtue.

I'm just wondering if anyone has a timeline similar to mine though? Applied late 2016, and recently had a security interview that they are waiting to hear the results of? I'm finding that most people on the forum at this point are 2017/2018 application dates.
I'd hate to make it to the final stage, only to be denied at this point.

I'm grateful to see that the PARE results are now valid for 18 months, as under the old 12 month validity period, I'd be looking at having to complete it for the 3rd time in a few short weeks.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read my post, and goodluck to us all in 2019!
Hey, I have a similar timeline to yours.

Looks like I am just a bit longer and still also waiting, I just keep telling myself that it will all be worth it in the end. That is really all you can do, but knowing that everything is complete and just waiting for that email does relieve some stress if you look at the positive lol. Hopefully I also won't have to complete a third PARE!

Your timeline is VERY similar to mine, I applied Dec 2016. I just got notification last week that I’m in 13C....my fingers are crossed for you, hang in there, it’s only a matter of time!!! Such a LONG process and hard to stay sane. Maybe shoot a little follow up email to recruiting to just see if any feedback regarding clearance check being complete and maybe that will que your name on system
I appreciate the support! I have already sent them a couple emails, and they replied to advise that it's still pending. They also sent that email to everyone still waiting for clearances late last month, so i'll hold off for now. I'm just hoping for some good news in the coming weeks!
Thanks again for your support, and best of luck in Rigaud!

Yup it will definitely be worth it in the end, and I agree it is nice completing everything, but I just wish I knew if I passed the security clearance. It would be awful to make it this far, only to be denied. Does anyone know off hand reasons for people being declined a security clearance? Apart from bad credit maybe? I see a lot of posts on here with people who have fell short on the interview/ psych, but I don’t see a lot for the security stage?

Thanks for the reply and best of luck to you!

For those that have been to Rigaud....

Is it week 9 that we get to pick out our Ports?
And
When do you see a list of available ports for your class so we can research on the available ports? I’m hoping we can see that a bit before to do research

Thank you!!!

Week 9 you get the list of ports, then a week later you pick your region and port. It could be different now since recruits can pick their top 3 districts.

Hi everyone, I posted on another thread but I never got an answer. I received an email with my interview date (January), and it listed what I need to bring including proof of my Fire Arms training. I am almost sure that I read that it did not need to be done until before training? I was planning on taking it in February. When I searched the forum it appears that it used to be necessary before the interview stage but now it's different, does anyone know? I'm really afraid to show up without it.
Look over the original posting you applied on and review the application process. Check all your correspondences. But as far as I know, every selection process mandates that you have proof of your PAL training, not the licence. If you're knowledge of firearms is strong you can skip the training and just challenge the test outright. I'd be calling some instructors ASAP. Personally I think it's a stupid requirement. No other agency mandates it. But oh well.
You cannot challenge the tests any more, that was done away with.

About a week into the online, maybe less they sent us the form for our three desired districts. I have heard that they may be going back to people finding out before they go to rigaud. That's just s rumor though.

If it makes you feel any better, a buddy of mine has a similar timeline to mine. We both sent in our papers the same day and had our integrity interview the same day in May. My clearance came back in August his is yet to come. Its radically different for everyone.

It would be so fantastic if they’d tell you before you went, don’t really understand why they don’t to be honest. Would probably cut the amount of people that drop after they get their posts. Why waste 9 weeks of training if the person leaves due to post they received (yes they did agree to go anywhere, but I hear lots do drop when it’s final posting day). Keep us posted if you do find out prior please!

Seeing all these posts makes me excited but I am still waiting for an interview... And if I can even pass the interview...
