For the Medical Clearance Form, I'd have to book an appointment with a physician to get that done prior to doing the PARE test right? Or is there one at the test centre that can do it before your start the PARE test?

There wouldn’t be one at the testing area for a PARE. Based on your timeline, personally I’d wait on the PARE until you’re a little further into the process. It’s currently valid for 18 months, but some people are in limbo for that long, and you want it valid for when you get accepted to Rigaud

Yea, I'm still trying to get myself ready for PARE. But that's good information though, thanks! And I'm guessing I'd have to book an appointment with a physician for the clearance.

Your family doctor can do the medical clearance for a PARE. It wouldn’t be bad to run it beforehand to get a feel for it. It’s all about pacing and endurance though

Do they allow runs before the actually test?

That depends where you are. Some testing centres hold practice runs, but not many seem to anymore.

There is a green elephant in the room I don't see anyone talking about. With the recent legalization of weed, is abstinence still mandatory for 1/2/3 years?

Actually, this has been discussed many times.

If people think about the question, the answer becomes obvious.

Every applicant is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but because recreational use has only recently become legal under certain conditions, any use 1/2/3 years back is still considered a past criminal offence, whether detected or not.

Applicants need to be totally honest about past use, and then it is up to the individual agency how they want to handle it.

One thing to remember is that the United States Customs and Border Patrol does not recognize laws of Canada, and cannabis is still a federally-controlled substance in the U.S.. They always have the right to turn anyone away who is not a U.S citizen, and legal recreational use in Canada may make someone ineligible to enter the U.S. Obviously, this could impact the ability of a future police officer to do their job.

Lying to a border officer, as some people have advised, IS a criminal offence, and can have serious repercussions.

As I said, though, every applicant is decided on a case-by-case basis.

Thank you! Yes you are right it seems pretty straight forward now.

Is there still a security interview? When I did my interview, I asked how many more interviews were in the process. I was informed by both recruiters that the interview I did completed was the only one.

My timeline is roughy.

Aug - Applied
Sept - Exam
Oct - Results
Nov - Interview
Nov - Results

As far as I am aware I have Pysc and Medical left, with the need to produce PARE results in there.

Hey guys new here!

I recently passed my interview, I got my results back in less than a week. I have to do the PARE test though as spots are pretty limited around here. I can either do it on Jan 9 or Feb 27. What is the next step that I should be expecting? Would February be too late to do it? I'm only wanting to do it then to give me more time to practice. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

As far as I know, as long as you pass the PARE test before you go to Riguard, you'll be ok. You should be expecting either the Medical or the Psychological portions. Also, congrats on the interview :)

Congrats, I am just waiting to be given my interview date. May I ask your location? Just curious. What letter does your last name begin with? ha ha
