Completed ECI this past Monday, just waiting for a yay or nay.

Anyone know what are timelines like for OPS?

Good luck to all applicants! :twitch:

A couple of people have asked about timelines. It depends on how fast they move individual candidates through, but generally things have picked up this year. After ECI it can take a few weeks to get invitation to psych written testing, and then couple of weeks for appointment with psychologist, and then perhaps a couple of weeks to get your file ready to pass along to background investigator. Some may move slower, others faster. They tend to get their classes together a few weeks before in-house training starts (which is a few weeks before OPC).

For anyone who has had their background wrap up (within last couple of years), do you get notified via e-mail/phone if you are going to go in the pool for when selection committee meets next? Is Ottawa emptying the pool after each hiring class - either you get hired or file closed?

Hello,

I am considering to apply to the OPS but read that there is a big budget crunch and they are only accepting less than 30 applicants for 2016 and no idea on 2017 yet. Any thoughts on this? Are they deferring applicants to the next year's hiring pool or what?

That's always hard to take. Did they give a reason?

That's frustrating that you can't even know where you were "deficient."

Well I received the call yesterday! It's a dream come true and I'm so excited to have finally gotten that call after 4 years of trying and getting a few no's. To everyone in the process, the call alone is worth it! Best of luck to everyone!
I can't wait to start working for such a great service!

Thank you!
My process with Ottawa was pretty smooth, they treat their applicants well on a personal level and really get to know you! It can go quick, it can go slow but it all depends on the time of year I feel. I applied in late December 2015, attended my PBQ in February, had my LFI March 15th, My ECI was scheduled that day for May, my written psych test was scheduled the next day and my background started days after that, with my psych interview being the following week and it overlapped with my background. My background was completed by the first week of June. Since then I've been trying to remain patient and optimistic and finally received the call! Today was the paper signing and things are progressing quickly.

For anyone in the process the advice I can give is remain confident, determined and patient. Good things take time, don't rush it, don't give up and it WILL happen!
