Hi there,

I’m starting to dislike the APATS system.

I started an application in 2018 that I didn’t submit due to getting LASIK done and wanting to wait.

I received an email that my 2018 application is incomplete and that I will have to re-do it come December 31 2018.

I’m ready to proceed with my application, but logging into APATS the only option I have is to accept the declaration and submit. I can’t see any of my previous responses / etc. It’s using my incomplete 2018 application it seems.

My thought is to crate a new account and re-do the application, but I’m worried that might cause me grief later on. Wondering if anyone has ran into this.

Thanks!
Safest way to proceed is to contact recruitment and explain just as you did here, and they’ll tell you what they want you to do. That way it doesn’t look sketchy when you submit a second application and they can see you’ve already started one.

Any word on what the upcoming budget cuts are going to do as far as recruiting is concerned? Heard from a friend in CFD they just cancelled their class that was supposed to start in a couple of weeks and there are rumors of possible layoffs coming.

Not sure if this is a good platform to be having this discussion... :ponder:

On another note I am approaching background hopefully next week. Does anyone know when they meet for selection? I hear it is only a monthly thing so curious about June...
It used to be the last Wednesday of every month. Unless something has changed, you can likely expect to hear from your FM shortly after that. Best of luck and well done making it to selection, I know you've been at it for a while.
Thanks! Today's the big day. I never heard back about my background being completed, however, when they started they gave me a timeline of being in selection today so I am hoping I made it in, no news is good news is my motto. Good luck to everyone who is going through selection today.

Can anyone confirm for me whether or not the Calgary police service retrieves an applicants fingerprints before they begin their enhanced security clearance?

I definitely remember being printed as part of the process. I can’t imagine they would have discontinued that, though someone fresher through the process can confirm.

It’s a fair question. We haven’t heard anything yet. At the end of the day, we have an authorized service strength and we are nowhere near that in terms of bodies. We will continue to have retirements and people quitting who need to be replaced as well. I’d expect that we may trim back the volume of classes (ie - maybe not doing 6 a year as has been planned) but I can’t see us stopping recruiting and training outright.

Caveat - I don’t work in HR/recruiting/brass-level, so this is just coming from someone who shows up to work everyday and gets his hands dirty. Take it for what it’s worth.

I am working on filing out application papers for EPS, and I am pretty sure I read in one of the disclaimers somewhere that you'll be fingerprinted at some point. I would assume CPS is the same since they are part of the same application system;

It's a mundane question though; Fingerprinting takes all of one minute and would be expected in any job with access to sensitive information

I have a curiosity question for anyone who has completed the A-PREP. During the shuttle run, once you have achieved level 7 do they stop the exam or do they continue until everyone has dropped off? Thank you
