How you accomplish that..I don't know. I learned my limits and abilities thanks to 3 Van Doo Sgt's in a previous lifetime who did more for me then they realize.

Find a way. At the very least..have a long hard look at yourself and decide now if you think you can do this job. At the end of a range with pissed off inmates between you and the bubble..sure as hell isn't the time to decide.

That's sound advice for anyone looking into a LE position.

To reiterate from my previous post, using the KP example: when those two officers are walking down range with 35 inmates all out of their cells eating lunch, and only one officer with a radio and PPA in the office, the only reason that you and your partner walk off that range alive is because the inmates let you. At any one time, there are easily 5 to 6 stabbing weapons within easy reach of the inmates, and if you're at the back of the range, you've got about 80 feet to run to get off the range.

I get that, and that's what I meant that if they wanted to of course they can. I don't think this translates into 'running the prison' though.

Interesting discussion came out of those words though. I think the way the "question" was termed was a little ridiculous....I get now having read his responses what he was really asking, could have polished up that initial post a little more I think.

Got nothing here..... loving the wait :P Hopefully we get our results sometime soon, I would like to see how I did on them especially since all I keep hearing is how people found them to be very difficult while I did not find them to be as bad as people are making them out to be.

Fortunately I only had to do the in-house written exam and not the WCPT as I already have a valid score for that one. Did anyone else get an email the day after they wrote the exam saying the results would be sent to us as soon as they can and do not contact them for the scores? I kind of lol'd when I got it, I figured they sent it because everyone is probably calling like crazy asking for results.

P.S. To any of you federal employees, do you have any idea what is considered a "good" mark on the WCPT? I know CSC requires 18/50 but I was just curious what is considered a solid mark.

I also received the email but I received it like 2 hours after doing the test lol :P I think they sent that out because of the large number of people that participated in the testing and did not want to be overwhelmed with e-mails and phone calls in regards to the tests.

Which would makes sense considering they are already slow enough :P

A couple hundred of us in Kingston did the testing. I heard a couple thousand from all over wrote this time around but I am not positive on this?

I also received the email, I believe the next day after taking the tests. I read that one person waited a month for results so I am hoping in the next few weeks to hear something.

I think we should change the name of this forum sub-section to "Applying to Correctional Service Canada - HURRY UP AND WAIT!" ;)

That's pretty much an operating motto in the Service, for better or worse. One thing to keep in mind with this latest competition and testing is that this is an entirely new format (i.e. having hundreds of people writing tests all at once). Therefore, any of the timelines that those of us experienced in earlier competitions probably won't apply this time around.

That being said, I don't think you'll be waiting years and years for an answer..... they need people too badly to stretch it out that long.

Best of luck to you all! (I have a friend who wrote in Kingston this last round, and I don't think she's heard anything yet).

Nope, nothing yet. ;) You and A. will probably be one of the first people I will let know if I hear anything.

Thanks Mully!

No response on the west coast yet either! They do have lots of tests to mark, so I assume it will at least be a few more weeks.
