I've been in the pool for CX1 for a little over a year. I chose Atlantic only which is probably why I am waiting so long. However a friend of mine in the exact same situation received an invite yesterday after only waiting 5 months. Id be lying if I said this didn't crush me. I am so happy for them but after waiting so long, it was hard to hear. Here are my questions: Does your psych evaluation expire after one year? Will I have to reapply since I've been waiting over a year? I started this process April 2018. Is there any advice out there as to what I need to do? My timeline is as follows;
Applied: April 2018
Exams: July 2018
Interview: October 2018
Psych: Nov 2018
Medical: Dec 2018
CTP1: Dec 2018
Congrats to those who received invites and good luck!
You aren’t alone in your position. I have a Bachelors Degree in Justice and Diploma in Correctional Studies, have worked hard to get to where I am at, and it would be great if there was organization to this hiring process, plus effective communication. I have NO idea where I am sitting in this process. I was invited to an institution I never selected on my application and declined as it would have been challenging to move my family, have no support system and working in a city we know no body. Makes no sense. I believe Officers need to be mentally healthy when working in the system.
I don’t want to get to Oct. and my psych expires, then redo steps I’ve already completed. Feel like I’m walking in circles sometimes.
I’m hoping to go by Aug or Sept at the latest.
In the mean time, do I apply to the process closing at the end of March? Or would that set a person back even further?
I took my police exams and passed those so I’m thinking of applying to other agencies. I can not be sitting with a giant student loan and no career.
Have you spoke to recruiting at all? If you did your psych in 2018, you would have to redo it.
It’s really strange you didn't receive an invite and the other individual you know did.
Email them and see if you should reapply or what occurred or where you are at in your process. I’m in the Prairies. I just got my public health documents that said I meet the requirements.
Sorry for the long post, but let me know what you hear back.

I got an invite for the Ontario region but declined because I initially applied for the Atlantic region.

The stories I am hearing about institutions from the people who graduated in my core. Kinda sad, I didn't graduated, but the flipside is thank god I didn't graduate. The changes in policy. Ouch.
As soon as you make it through CTP3, get yourself into self defense classes asap.
I loved our self defense classes in core, but 2 weeks is not enough for 30 years of hazardous situations.
I failed twice on the c8... Which is kinda funny cause i breezed by the more difficult pistol. Ontario was also dealing with a heatwave and i have a hard time focusing in real bad heat.
Then i took the cuffs off wrong during handcuffing. This one, i didnt agree with but there is absolutely no point in arguing.
Its not difficult at all. Just pay attention and you’ll do fine.
There were cx in mine that had never been in a fight, never shot a firearm, and never put handcuffs on that didnt get a single strike.
Your first week at ctp3 you do your law & policy test of ctp2. Its a strikeable. And theres many of them.
I was in ctp03 kingston june to aug. if anyone has questions, I’d be happy to do my best to prepare you. Just pm me.
Thank you all
