It's just a general aptitude test

I passed all the tests with above average scores.

This is what I did and would recommend to prepare.

Review basic High School lessons on..

- Math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions, etc)
- English (grammar, vocabulary, spelling, diction, syntax, etc)
- Reading comprehension (read intellectual magazine articles or something like a doctoral dissertation and learn to extract the meaning from what is otherwise a run on, wordy sentence and/or article :smirk: and look up the definitions of any words you don't know.

- Bring a stand alone calculator. I was allowed to use one during the exam as long as it was a calculator AND ONLY a calculator. No ipods, cell phones etc, etc.

For the In-House exam,

- Carefully listen to the instructions that are given to you.

None of the tests are "tricky" they just simply provide CSC with a gauge on where you're currently at. However studying and reviewing some of the basic aptitude test material WILL provide you with an advantage.

There are many websites online and/or books that provide a convenient service to help stimulate your learning in these areas.

But before you go to all that trouble really research the realities of a career in Law Enforcement. It isn't for everyone. A fact that will become apparent to you and your colleagues all too quickly should you pursue this career for the wrong reasons or with the wrong attitude.

I don't know about with CX postings, but the results available date is often arbitrary. The Public Service Commission runs the website and makes hiring organizations include a date. When it hits that date the "result available" is often just something along the lines of "your application has been forwarded to the hiring department."

I should re-word that. There is a Cat III medical test but no other physical test.

It's a bone of contention... go back and you'll see most of us gripe about it. As in, the none existing physical...

I agree, there needs to be a physical! They should also introduce a stricter PT regime for CPTs, mandatory daily PT, running up and down the stairs and doing a few pushups is not PT.

I agree as well. There should be standard physical requirements like any other Law Enforcement agency.
