Hello all!

Just passed my ACT/APCAT on Saturday, March 11th. Woo! Anxiously awaiting a phone call from Recruiting as they instructed me on Saturday that they were going to book my APREP. Hoping for the August 14th class if all goes well! Anyone else in the same boat? Or have any tips for the process? Feeling ready for the APREP, but anything helps! Only saw a handful of women at the written testing, any other fellow female applicants heading through the process? Best of luck to all, and congratulations for those who have already begun their journey with EPS!

Hello.
I passed the ACT and APCAT 3 weeks ago and they said pre-screening takes about two weeks. Is it normal for it to typically take longer? I know the March class starts next week, so I imagine recruiting is quite busy getting everyone who is in the class ready.
Does EPS let you know either way if they are going to proceed with the APREP?

Thank you

Hello all,

I'll be sending off my application soon, just awaiting my IQAS certificate to come through.

I am originally from the UK and have been in Canada for just over a year. I have only had one employer in Canada (And wouldn't be able to get a reference as I don't want them to know i am applying in case I am unsuccessful)

Are letters of reference from persons living outside of Canada acceptable?

Also, am I able to use my girlfriends mother (and her partner) as a reference as we are not yet related?

Lastly on another subject, and this question is actually on behalf of a friend who is also considering applying, is downloading a movie considered a crime (in reference to no criminal activity detected or undetected in 3 years)? I assume that it is, just thought I'd ask.

Anyway, thank you in advance!

I will advise to call EPS recruiting and speak to one of the recruiter.

Good luck

Hello all!

Proceeding to the BDI stage, and if anyone has any tips further to those given on the website for BDI preparation I would greatly appreciate it! Does anyone out there know whether they aim for solely 1 question per competency unless you don't answer your question properly? I've been prepping my STAR scenarios. Any tips would be more than helpful.

Thanks!

When I prepared for the BDI, I prepared 3-5 answers for each competency. For example, I tried preparing a personal, work and school answer for each competency because you have no idea what the question will be.

The BDI honestly is all about preparation. There will naturally be some overlap which is fine. I remember having a really good answer prepped for one competency but was unable to use it there but it was perfect for the question asked on another competency.

Good luck!

Hi jrscout

Congratulations for making it to the BDI stage. Few tips from my experience:

1. Prepare more than one example for each competency ( 2 would be great )
2. Each example should target multiple competencies ( highly recommenced )
3. Attention to detail ( spelling of places, persons ), correct dates
4. Practice, practice, practice, practice by using STAR format

Best of luck,

jp

Looking back at one of the emails, they take place on Saturdays at 8:00am. You are suppose to arrive a minimum of 15mins earlier, and it takes about 4 1/2 hours to complete.

This info is a from an email when I was booking my session. Hope this helps.

If I were you I'd let my employer know at the very least that your interested in applying or that you are applying. Reason being, if your successful up to the background they will call your employer, or maybe even before that. Its usually easier to get ahead of things like this than leave your employer totally surprised when they receive a call. You also have to realize that maybe you won't make it past the background, then you're leaving the employer wondering what else you haven't told them. Not a employer/employee relationship I'd want.

Can anyone offer advice on reapplying after a deferment period (deferred 1yr at the selection committee stage)?
-Is the process modified at all? - I know I will have to re-run the fitness, but my written tests are still valid.
-Does the Behavioural have be interviewed again?
-Is the background reviewed from scratch or just the last year reviewed?

I had to do everything but the written again. It was worth the effort.
