Hey everyone, first time poster here!

Just curious: how long did your RFI interview last, approximately? I was told it would be 2-3hrs, but mine was closer to 1hr15mins. The call was 20 mins late because of something on the analysts end...but either way, I’m mildly concerned now.

I thought I was doing well, but the length is making me wonder...haha.
Mine was only an hour and 15 minutes too, so was my buddies and we both have troops. I don't think you should unduly stress until you get an email. Timeline's are different for everyone.
Cheers my friend—I’m happy to hear that. Thanks for your message!

Any AB applicants out there who have gone on a ride along? If so, how would one go about to go on one?

Greatly appreciate it!

I have but I asked a friend of mine who is a member and once it was approved on his end all I had to do is fill a bit of paperwork.

Maybe someone with more knowledge can speak to this but I think the best way might be contacting the detachment and speaking to someone and go from there.

I wish I had connections. You're probably right, I'll contact some detachments once things settle down.

How long ago did you do this, Bewe? I thought we kiboshed R-A-L, as well as having A/Cst on patrol, years ago.

In light of 2020-04-18/19 NS, I am thinking if we HAD been allowing it again that the Force will NOT do so again, all due to liability.

I did this back in January of this year. I asked my friend and once he was given the green light we did a ride a long.

I could be wrong here but I thought you had to show proof that you were in the application process. I could be wrong.

In November of 2019 I went on a ride along ( night shift), I live in BC. The Cst that was supposed to go on the ride along with had too much paper work to catch up on so the watch commander took me on the ride along. All I did was contact the detachment, set up a date, signed a few papers and that was it. Enjoyed it very much and the watch commander was very informative.

Hey Pete

I know you were not asking me, but I went on a ride along with RCMP in Alberta in November 2018!

Yep, in the same boat here. Good to see some security is still being processed! Hoping to hear something in the near future, but just staying busy. No word on training being back on at Depot anyway. Just got an email a few days ago that NRPC are closed but some work is being completed remotely and timelines will depend on where you are in the process at the time COVID-19 hit and to expect delays.

We have posted a statement on our website about the resumption of training. I can try to answer general questions, but we aren't ready to announce details at this time.

Questions about recruiting and troop loading are best directed to your file coordinators and recruiters.

I ask for patience while we work through all the issues.

Resumption of training at the RCMP Academy

On March 19, 2020, in the interests of protecting the health and safety of cadets and staff in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the RCMP Academy, Depot Division, suspended all cadet and in-service training.

During the short time period required to mobilize the cadet population for departure from Regina, Depot was able to graduate 4 troops. This allowed us to post 116 new constables to communities across Canada.

The RCMP has consulted extensively with the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan Health Authority, the RCMP National Medical Advisor and Depot's own Health Services Officer in order to determine the way forward. These consultations have unanimously supported a graduated approach with an abundance of caution and ongoing reassessments with careful consideration of the evolving local and national COVID-19 situation.

Based on the advice we have received, we are making changes to our training to allow us to resume training for 2 of the 16 troops that had their training interrupted in March.

Cadets will arrive at the Academy in late May, where they will undergo a mandatory 14-day isolation period. Training is to resume on June 12 with significant changes in the training environment to accommodate new safety practices for both cadets and Depot staff. This will include screening measures upon arrival, physical distancing and incorporation of personal protective equipment (PPE) into the regular training environment.

We will phase in more troops gradually and only after ongoing reassessment confirms that Depot has the capacity to sustain all relevant and current protective measures.

Across Canada, we are all adapting to the challenges presented by COVID-19. Be assured that the RCMP remains committed to the training of new regular members to keep our streets and communities safe. We will continue to adapt and move ahead in a manner that prioritizes the health and well-being of cadets and employees, while maximizing the number of new police officers and enabling exceptional service delivery to Canadians.

Per the warning sticky at the VERY top of this thread, the following eMail sent to me, UNSOLICITED, is posted here for ALL to see, with identifiers redacted to protect the guilty:

"I'm wondering if you happen to know the maximum amount of time a cadet can
be out of Depot before they are required to do the entire recruiting
process over again (i.e. psych, poly, security, etc). I resigned last May
and am considering going back if it's not as lengthy of a process as last
time. Thanks."

Next time, I may not be so generous!
