BUT, and here's my own personal opinion. This outfit could do itself a world of good and make simple policy changes. Say you have to do X years of GD before you can do anything else.
It would make things a lot more clear and cut and dried, prevent a lot of questions about how long do I have to stick it out in GD before moving to something else. Prevent a lot of bitching from someone who does say, two years in black lake and figures they're owed something.
It wouldn't change much of anything. Instead of what you have now you'd have guys bitching about how the policy fucks over obvious high flyers such as themselves, and the day they get the minimum service threshold they will bitch about the fact that the Commissioner herself didn't show up at their house serving the breakfast in bed and a transfer notice to the specialized unit of their choosing, regardless of their actual skills or performance. I mean after all, they did their time.
When people get too chummy with me, I like to call them by the wrong name to let them know I don’t really care about them.

Hi there,

I was at Depot for 17 weeks before getting terminated, I have a 6 months deferral period, I was told once I complete this period I can apply again and it usually takes 1-1.5 months. Has anyone been deferred at any point before and reapplied after the deferred period?? How was the process??
Thank you

I reapplied after a deferral period was over, contrary to popular belief, you don’t get plopped back into whatever part of the process you were deferred from, you start back at the tippity top (maybe it’s case by case basis). Not sure what the case is for you having already been to Depot, have you tried contacting a recruiter? They will be able to tell you exactly what you need to know.

Yes, I have contacted a recruiter but they didnt have an answer for me...thats why I’m asking here. Thank you for your reply tho, and the best of luck in your process

I was the mail rep for my troop!! Its actually a cool job! You are the only person that actually brings joy to the troop :D

Mess rep - 1 30 minute meeting a month and that’s it. Mail rep gets bitched to get the mail every day.

Hello All,
Finally received the best phone call so far on Monday. I was offered Troop 18 to begin September 2nd. I can totally say Depot is packed for sure. I have been trying to get in since 2010 when I graduated from University. Whoever is trying to get in, never give up, your time will come. I want to thank everyone here for their support, I appreciate. I have a few questions:

Do we need laptop for classes?
Is there is a swimming component at Depot?
Are we going to have every weekends off at Depot?

Any applicants from Winnipeg or Manitoba heading to Depot this summer? If there is, lets link up.

My wife will be moving to Canada for the first time and am the only one she knows here. Would it be a good idea for her to move to Regina with me or let her stay in Winnipeg?

Thanks.

Your file coordinator will have sent you an email regarding your troop offer, read the information included in that.

Again, I'd recommend reading the information sent to you by your file coordinator, there is ton to comb through.

No laptop needed but some bring to watch movies in the evening, there is a pool to use so bring a swimsuit and googles if you need, weekends are "off" but there's always something you can be doing, studying, practicing.... It's about time management..... As far as your wife, it's up to you but would highly suggest her staying in Winnipeg. If she's here that's just another thing to have to devote time to in a program that doesn't offer much free time.
