I grew up on the shores of Lake Ontario and served with the CAF in Alberta. Dry cold for the win! Lol cold is cold, but being able to deal with it is key

I'm just used to the B.C wet cold so it will be interesting for S.K dry cold. See you guys soon.
It’s much more tolerable. The wind sucks, buts that’s it.
Your first -30 will be a shock and like epeac895 said the wind sucks but you'll adapt quickly.

This is all true! Pray the polar vortex doesn’t settle in for a long 3-4 week stay again this year. Last February was a long cold bitter month. -25 or worse (windchills included) DAILY in Edmonton.

No such thing as bad weather, only bad gear.

Still managed to run for 5km in -30 when I first arrived here. At least the humidity is super low.

Weather will be the least of your worries here, haha.

Hahaha oh man I so disagree. I’ve used some top of the line gear and still had some really shitty times in crap weather. 36 hours in a trench waist deep in water in -20 and blowing snow, getting 3 hours sleep on the ground in a 2 man recce tent is not a good time no matter what gear you have.

BUT I totally get the point you’re making; the suck is all subjective to how much you want it!

Hey guys,

Just wondering if there is any lurkers on here who have been to depot, got injured and then returned to finish after being recovered? I left in good standing and was terminated simply due to the severity of my injury and I am hopefully going to be starting the reinsertion process as soon as I am medically cleared. I am just curious how that process has gone for other people. I was told my file would be fast tracked but am wondering how long it took for other people to be sent back who were in a similar position.

I've experienced -40 in plamondon alberta 2 years ago when visiting my brother in law and after 5 mins outside I was shocked at the bite. That's when alberta was locked in a huge deep freeze in December 2018

Ya, that was just the start of it. February was worse, at least in the city. Plamondon is slightly more north and from hunting that area previously they get drastically different weather patterns. More snow, more wind: -40 is no joke!

I miss the people, I found once I grew comfortable with civi life and moved towards Law Enforcement I lost some good friends. People who knew nothing except the military and had full intentions of being career corporals in the combat arms.

very excited to say that I am on my RMAQ step of the process, waited 4.5 months since my last step and really excited to move further into the process even if it's one of the early steps.

Way to go! I’m 10 months in just waiting for my security clearance, most of the guys I have been communicating with that applied at the same time as me have received their offers now recently, I keep hoping for that phone call, maybe today is the day.

10 months is a long wait for Security clearance. I hope you hear something soon!

I just received my Security clearance 2 weeks ago. Just waiting for that troop offer now...

Goodluck to everyone in the application process.

Congrats on receiving the clearance! Just a matter of time now! How long did it take you?

Sig, that’s a tough wait for the clearance but I’m sure it will all be worth the wait!

I am currently 3 and a half months into the security clearance.
