Just wondering if anyone here has applied; since the introduction of the entrance exam exemption if you have a 4 year degree. More specifically, I was wondering if you have; does the process go much quicker?

I have my degree and applied after the introduction of the RPAB exemption. It's hard to say how much time I saved by not needing to do the RPAB due to the variation in RPAB scheduling between each province and the level of competition amongst those who have written the RPAB. Looking at others timelines who have completed the RPAB though, I would say it saved me two or three months minimum (probably longer) in the application process thus far if I really had to guess.

I wrote the exam and was told to do my selection package 3 days later. Everyone is different. I didn't even get a very good score.

I scheduled my exam only days in advance, and my selection packaged was requested (and sent) only a week later. Taking the RPAB added less than two weeks to my process, so it's very individual. The RPAB has instant electronic results vs years past where it appeared to have taken months to get results and move forward.

Hey guys,

First time poster here and looking for some advice.

I've been looking into applying for a police officer position with the RCMP. I am currently in my first year of university, and I'm an Auxiliary officer with the OPP. Absolutely love being part of the organization and the work atmosphere. Recently I went through the aircrew selection process with the RCAF and passed all the tests, minus the vision one (not bang on 20-20 in both eyes, but close). Since then I've been looking into other options.

My question is, how difficult is it to get hired by the RCMP with only part of a degree finished? Is it worth putting the application in or am I just wasting my time? I do believe I am mentally and physically ready for this career, but I'm a bit worried that only bachelor degree clad applicants are looked at.

Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert but from what I read on here and RCMP website is a degree could help you but not having one won't hinder you in the process. I say all it would help with is life experience and maybe moving to different positions in the future

Got an email from my FC this afternoon advising that my file was being handed off to a field investigator to begin the background investigation. Not even three hours later, one of my references texted me and said they were called by someone from the RCMP about me. Talk about fast

Nice to see files moving forward so fast these days! Just finishing up under the old system. Was told to expect finding out my troop date within the week. Been a long ride but coming to an end finally. 8)
