Just wanted to say thanks to all the people who post on here; you've been very helpful in my getting this far in my application.

Found out in December that some medication (an immunosuppressant) for a medical condition I have (ulcerative colitis) caused me to not meet minimum requirements, despite passing the PARE and being quite physically fit.

Even though I know there are RM's who have the same condition/medication, they were diagnosed AFTER they got in. They said if I go off the meds and have no symptoms for 2 years, I can try again. That's not a great option though, as the meds have been essential to me.

Not sure what will happen. Trying to figure out if other depts have the same policy on that medication or not. This really sucks; I was almost there. Nothing to really "improve upon" except just being unlucky, I guess.

Back to square 1 we go

That's rough pal. Sorry that you can't qualify due to medical issues, it's unfortunate that your application won't go through due to something beyond your control, especially if your level of fitness is high enough to pass the PARE.

That's rough, I can relate to that feeling, would suck big time, especially as Loskene said, its out of your control. However, try to keep your head up high. You appear to have gone very far into the process, which says a lot about you and your dedication/perseverance. Try to take all the good that came from this and put that energy and transfer it elsewhere. If you're still interested in being a police officer, check out locally or provincially.
Don't give up, best of luck! :)

I'm Back! WOO HOO! I just received my selection package and confirmation that I can move on to the next step. Not sure what I scored, but I'm sure I will get that in the mail. I did the RPAB in Stoney Creek January 14th. I have always
wanted to get into law enforcement since 1989 when my friends got in but I just got busy with my Trade and family life. Now is the time. :D

I just got my call!
Although he said they are having trouble getting flights out of BC so if they can't get a decent flight I'm guaranteed for Troop 29 on March 10th.

Well after thinking about it on and off for the past 2 years I started the process of application for the RCMP.
I just, barely, passed the RPAT (3.27) a few days ago. Eagerly awaiting for the next steps.

Wish me luck!

I was in an "Accelerated Process" that Surrey ran. Well Surrey was dissolved and my file went to Regina at the start of december. My box was opened and it's missing a lot :?

It's gotten pretty frustrating.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I don't plan on giving up, just re-evaluating my strategy and going at it until I get it, whether it's with the RCMP or not. Not sure where, when or how, but I know if I keep it up, it'll happen.

Good luck you guys!
