I have a number of questions I'm hoping I could get answered by someone who's been to Rigaud recently. More about the culture/atmosphere. If someone could PM me that'd be awesome.

Also,

Does anyone know roughly how long before the online portion starts that a person would get an invite? Just curious about when I should start really paying attention.

Thanks!

Mike-

To answer your last question, the invite for the online portion generally goes out a month before it starts.

So I did my security clearance interview and realized after I left that I had forgotten about a few things. Is it okay to update the security analyst? I did, I just hope it isn't considered being dishonest because I didn't tell him during the interview.

Question.

I'm considering applying to the CBSA. I'm curious. When everyone references the Security Interview. Is this the same as a Polygraph? Or is it just sitting with an interviewer and you discuss yourself in depth?

It’s the equivant of the Pre-Polygraph Interview the RCMP do where they review your lifestyle and integrity questionnaire in-depth. It’s part of your security clearance and it’s to assess your level of honesty and integrity and allows them to do a risk assessment on you.

Hey guys,

I have been reading this thread for a while and I am recently sent in the scans of my diplomas, gun course tests, drivers license etc. I would like to know whether taking anxiety medication for 4 months in the past disqualifies you during any of the medical/psychological tests or whether this is decided through a case by case basis? Thank you to all who answer.

I've recently graduated high school and I was wondering what are the next steps I should take to become a suitable candidate for the CBSA. Should I pursue a degree in something like Criminology, or should I stay away from a degree and take other courses and programs that would point me in the right direction if so which ones? I live in Vancouver and I would appreciate any help.

Thank you :)

I think you should throw expectations out the window. I had my interview done October 31, 2017 and haven't heard anything. NSMike (I think that's the name - see a few postings back from yours) had an interview in May, 2018 and has already gotten to OITP.

What are the chances you will get posted to your home province ?
I have to choose 3 postings (small communities/isolation posts) before my selection process... just curious as to what the policy is

Their process doesn't seem to make much sense. On the one hand, I'm glad that after two years I'm finally getting my chance, but feel somewhat guilty because I feel like I'm jumping the line a bit somehow. Who knows how they make these decisions.

Good luck!

I didn't get my security clearance before I went to Rigaud. I honestly didn't even know I had it until I signed my letter of offer at the end of week 18 and it said I had Secret Security Clearance. Don't worry about it. You have much more pressing issues you're gonna have to deal with!
