I thought it was 2 years too, because I remember reading that on these forums somewhere. A few months ago I decided to email recruiting just to confirm, because I really want this job and the thought of waiting 2 years was driving me nuts. They said there was no deferral time period for failing an interview, you just have to wait until the next hiring selection comes up. That might be new policy or something now though, who knows

Nice, I was so discouraged when I got the email stating I was missing a couple of components in my interview. There were 8 components apparently, I failed to demonstrate 3 of them at the time. I never was the best at interviews tbh. I stopped applying for 3 years. So I can understand if someone was in my shoes. Yea same, I wanted to do this job, I don't think anything else interests me as much.

I believe the people that are writing the OTEE test in september are the first to write it in general.

I appreciate that CBSA is making some changes here and there, hopefully for the better. My god, the past selection processes were a nightmare. Even the GC Jobs website has improved in terms of navigating with less confusion. The job postings are much more clear now.

Maybe it is because I was so used to the old GC website, but I find the new one a nightmare to navigate haha.

Hi,

Question concerning the new process. So, from what I understood, even if you have post secondary education you have to do the entrance exam? If so, do you know what type of exam it is? Is it an essay or more like reasoning and analytical thinking ?

Thank you, have a good one!

OTEE results: October 31st (passed)

Just received an answer: "The exam tests reasoning skills, writing skills, analytical thinking and client orientation. Although we are no longer using the standardized Written Communications Proficiency test or the General Competency test, the practice questions are still a good resource:"

I will be starting my training soon as just have some questions about joining units after your first year.

How much competition is there for inland, marine and dog units? What is the process for joining those units like?

Exciting! (Sarcasm)

I wrote the test yesterday, it was interesting, not what I expected or studied for, I'd love to share details on it, but I am certain there was a confidentiality blurb before writing it that I had to agree to. I personally utilized the full time allowed to write the test. My feelings / views on the test are this, A portion of it was relevant to the position, a lot of what was asked is stuff I felt that I would learn if I was accepted and went to the CBSA Training Facilities (I am a hands on learner)

If your book smart, no worries you'll ace the test. If you did not get high grades in High School or College in the essential areas of study, Study and or prepare extensively you'll need it. I studied and I imagine my grade reflects it.

Anybody have any ideas on how fast scoring / results will be released to applicants? I have post secondary and still had to write the test.

Need some help.

In the OTEE invitation, after putting the information in the link, I have not got any email regarding test. Is this normal ? I am only concerned since we have to confirm it by tonight.

Your help would be appreciated.

After I confirmed participation, I got the email with code a few hours before the testing period opened up.

Good morning. Those who have completed the exam, did you have enough time to finish it?
