I can't go into the details of the cuts but lot of FB4 acting and assignments will be going back to the POE FB3 level so that they dont need to hire more officers. Future applicants your only hope is that the government offfers good retirement packages to those close to retirement and they leave asap.

BEST OF luck.......

You can't go into details about the cuts but yet you have gone into details to tell future applicants to forget about it. We respect your opinion but you are not the spokesperson for this Agency in fact you just went to listen from someone at this town hall meeting. for you information the process of hiring has already started and the the majority of future applicants have done UIT. if the Agency want to replace bad eggs with good ones who are you to stop them.

You sound like someone who is surely affected by these cuts.

Good Luck sam_80

Doing UIT ==> Becoming a BSO is roughly equal to Knowing how to use a screwdriver ===> Building the Eiffel Tower

If anybody is hired from this point forward it is because the Agency has decided that it requires BSOs over and above anything to do with the current Deficit Reduction Action Plan.

Trust me, you are not a good egg being groomed to replace any bad ones. Given your position as an applicant you should probably not make such bold statements. You don't even know if you have what it takes to pass the BSOT and even be considered for a shot at "good apple" status.

What makes you guess I don't have what it takes to pass BSOT, what qualifications do have anyway for you to start questioning people abilities. Don't think you know it all. We also have family friends who work for CBSA.

I'd still like to know what qualifications this Protector24 character has.

The only real effect that BSOs will see from DRAP is that some affected employees might go back to the line as red circled BSOs. For example, IOs. That being said, the majority of the reductions in Intel will take place through attrition. We'll have fewer printers in service. . .

The Agency never went to the various branches, divisions, etc, and said "you must cut X amount of jobs." What they did was tell them that they had X number of dollars to cut however they saw fit. Some of the units that were affected couldn't really achieve these savings through job cuts. Arming, for example, is already short by large numbers of BFIs and MOD-4s.

So, in Arming, they adjusted the training regimen. Annual re-cert goes from 2 days to 1, you get 1 supervised practice per year instead of 2, and you get 1,000 rounds to fire off on your own time. Believe it or not, that saves a huuuuge amount of money. BSOs from Thunder Bay don't have to go to Winnipeg for 3 hour practice sessions anymore. That's just one example of how a unit can accommodate DRAP without actually cutting jobs.

The actual number of people "losing their jobs" is between 200 and 300. Most will be reassigned, there will likely be some golden handshakes handed out, etc.

Training at Riguad is going ahead as scheduled. They had planned downtime to prepare for the switchover from POERT to the Officer Induction Training Program. So, no big changes.

Anyone in the application process, or thinking about applying, carry on. It's a long haul to get through under the best of circumstances. Even if DRAP adds some time to it, you won't really notice. The last round of recruits we received were in the process for an average of 4 years, some as long as 6.

Intriguing. I was just told that a BSO intake had just been cancelled (intake 80 IIRC). The info is second hand. Are you placed well enough to be sure of the statements above?

Intake 80 was going to be the last classes under the POERT program. Intake 80 was cancelled and it was scheduled for July/August. Intake 81 which is supposed to have 72 recruits will have the first classes under the OITP. This is scheduled to take place most likely in September. Whoever gets chosen to go for Intake 81 will have to deal with all the kinks that come with a new training program. Enjoy!

Yes, the intake was cancelled, but not as a result of DRAP. The May intake will go ahead as scheduled, after which they will take time to switch over to OITP. There will also be a number of instructors coming off assignment around that time, likely headed back to the POEs for the busy summer season.

So that would be roughly 6 months from the intitial UIT to sending 72 to Rigaud. Is that doable with testing, interviews, reference checks, security check etc?
