The fitness logs have instructions on them with a link to follow for how to test each component. If you identify fitness as an area that needs to be improved, hold off on applying until you’re confident. You can still keep logs to track and demonstrate progress.

Hi everyone,

I submitted my application in April and received the letter of rejection today. I did not move forward in any aspect of the selection process. I was wondering if this hinders my ability to apply to other services like York Region?

Thanks!

No, however, York is a lot more competitive than the OPP. So take that for what you will.

Regarding the Fitness/Activity log...

What do you put under "Fitness PIN %"?

I have no idea what they're talking about, couldn't find it on PFPO.org either.

Nevermind... I realized the 2.4KM is worth 50 points (thought it was 20), so the total would be out of 100 if added together with the Push-ups (20), Core endurance (20) and Flexion (10).

This forum has been a great resource for me so I decided to join and provide insight about my process so far. :) I've completed all the steps so I'm just waiting for the final decision.

Best of luck to everyone!

How long after the process is completed does ones file go under final review?

There isn’t an approximate time for final review, I've been in final for 4 months now. It’s all relative to when your files completed, who’s file has been completed before yours, where you’re ranked in competitive standing, if there’s openings for your desired detachments relative to the next intake, and more I’m sure. A lot of variables that do not necessarily help determine anything until you get the call yourself.

I apologize I read your question a different way.. you’ll be in final review once your BGI returns your file to headquarters. Mine was nice enough to notify me a week after my home interview, everyone’s process is different! Good luck.

hey,

Just thought someone may have some more detailed info as to what other services and the opp is looking for when it comes to finances during the bgi or overall. It’s been pretty vague upon what they are initially looking for.
Hopefully someone can help me out!

Thanks in advance :)

Hi there,

From my understanding, they are looking at your financial literacy (how you manage your finances). Some factors they will consider are your credit history, any previous NSF/bounced payments, and your debts/savings. On OPP Hire, they had mentioned that it's a plus if you own a home as well. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out. I used to work for a financial institution and actually enjoy talking about finances, haha.

Does anyone have any insight about the following regions? Middlesex, Elgin County, Oxford, Lambton Shores, Huron, and Brant.

Thanks in advance! :)

Can anyone comment on time between email for LFI and the call to schedule LFI. In my case its been almost 2 months now. I know they probably buried in applications since removal of COR so they probably just delayed.

Any info/opinion would be appreciated :)

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the sigma test. I've heard that its similar to the Pati, with less math. Looking for more opinions as I am not the strongest in the math area.

Also if anyone has a good study/practice website or resource for the sigma that would be awesome!

Thanks and good luck to all

These detachments are all in West Region. I'm not sure about which ones would have many vacancies however some are larger and some a smaller detachments.

Middlesex i have no idea about.
Elgin County I understand is one of the largest detachments the OPP has, spred over a few locations.
Oxford County is out by London not sure how large.
I know nothing about Lambton Shores or Huron.
I worked at Brant many years ago when it was in Brantford on Highway 24. I suspect it hasn't changed much regarding the number of officers. Brant County is a fair sized patrol area, and ilved my time there.
Investigate and educate before jumping off the Cliff of Assumption.
