Does anyone know if we are allowed to discuss features of the client used to administer the OTEE? I have a potentially useful tip for people writing in the future or for those who want to rewrite.

I would assume so since it would be similar to discussing the time given but I’m kind of weary.

Welcome poster,

The passing mark is sixty percent. You will have to correctly answer approximately 80 out of 134 questions successful to be pass with a minimum score.

Other posters have answered this question before, please review the posts in this thread for answers to questions before asking.

The test is an occupational based exam, if you didn’t perform good this time, practice, study and you’ll improve on the next test.

Based on the information you provided, I would state that you were unsuccessful in writing it this first time around.

Stay positive! Now you are aware on how to prepare yourself to do great on the next rewrite!
This is incorrect. It irrelevant what percentage you may get. You have to answer enough questions to get a score of 6/10 on the 4 competencies listed. You could theoretically get 85% and fail. If you get 3 separate 10/10 and 1- 5/10 and that would be considered a fail. It all depends on which questions you pass and which questions you fail. If you fail one competency and pass the other 3......it’s still a fail.

You are correct. Let be more specific, you
Must score sixty percent in each assessed competency to pass.
Now,that looks trickier than I originally thought.

Reading previous post re OTEE and feedback from people who wrote it this time, it seems like they made it more difficult this time...

Do you think most of the people fail or pass OTEE?

I was told at my interview that the Exam has over a 50% failure rate.

As a first screening step, you could believe that 50% is right, or even a higher failure rate.

With the number of applicants vs Rigaud capacity, they have to screen down A LOT of individuals early in the process, to save spending on too many applicants later on.

At my interview I was told one third of applicants make it to the interview stage.

So something like this 22,000 yearly applications.
Let’s say 11,000 receive a passing score, then from their 3666 receive competitive scores and from that 1,222 are selected for interviews, from their 600 pass the interviews, then they go to pysch testing, let’s say 400 pass, then backround and medical lose about another one third and you get the average number hired yearly 250-300 applicants

I believe and or speculate hiring is a National Pool where you are constantly competing against on going and new applicants for further process consideration
CBSA:
App: 083018
Restricted / Non Restricted Firearms Course: 2010
OT.E.E: Wrote on 091018, Results: October 31, 2018. Successful 85%
Interview: Attended 011819, Results: January 22,2019. Successful
Psych: TBD

hay! excellent insight! i was wondering exactly the same thing.

i have some figures thanks to Sam the Man (from a post he put up on 2018-11-11), but just curious what everybody (especially the senior members) on here think:

From one stage to the next, how many make each step?
Apply: 20,439
OTEE invite:
OTEE pass: 7,562
Interview invite:
Interview pass:
Psych test, interview:
Security Clearance:
Medical:
PARE:
OITP:
Rigaud: 335
FB-03: 258

JF: can you re-do your numbers and re-post? i think they may be too aggressive to finish at 258.
ALL: which step is the hardest to pass?

For anyone interested in the real numbers:

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/agency-agen ... a-eng.html

The current model is a new system and thus metrics have to be provided. CBSA is pretty transparent about their current process.
