Fun Workout

Postby JaneneF » Tue Apr 22, 2014 12:28 pm

Just thought I'd share a workout I enjoy doing.

You'll need: A deck of cards and a pull up bar (and bands if you're weak like me)

Assign One workout for each suit
Eg.
Hearts=Pull ups
Diamonds=Sit-ups
Clubs=Burpees (with pushup)
Spades: Jump squats

the number cards tell you how many reps you should do. eg. you pull an 8 of Hearts, do 8 pull ups.

Face cards= 10 reps (Jack, Queen, King)
Aces= 11 reps.

Pull a card and do the corresponding workout and continue until you're through the whole deck.

It's nice because you can change up the assigned work outs every time you do it and you're constantly doing them in a different order as it is luck of the draw!

I've subbed burpees for straight push ups, jump squats for box jumps, alternating jump lunges etc etc.

Hahaha! It's a killer but awesome. You can take breaks at your leisure, I usually take one half way through for a minute or so. I get through it in 30-40 minutes. I love it, it's one of my faves.

When I did it, I had it so the ace was a sprint down the road and back.

I've done a variation of this workout but I think it was push-ups, squats, sit-ups, and snails. The Jokers were the sprint down the block.

Nice workout. I had to look up what "snails" were... never tried them before.

Thank you JaneneF ! I did it yesterday and that was a pretty cool workout. At first I thought It wouldn't be too hard but I was so wrong. I had to take a 1 minute break half-way.
Next time I change the assigned workouts.

I do similar workouts but this is more structured with variation.

Its no Spartan 300.

Glad you liked it! I find myself getting bored easily with workouts. The treadmill is like water torture for me. The only way I keep going on it is I set new "quit times" ie "I'll stop after five more minutes", then I will look at the distance and be like "Well, I should finish this current mile I'm on and make it an even number" "Oh there is only 10 minutes left...might as well finish..." etc etc.

This one mixes it up and keeps me engaged.

****edited for mixed up thought process***

Just googled it...might try it...though I'll have to modify for the floor wipers weight ...don't feel like breaking ribs before my prep retest in May. lol Also, probably will have to decrease the deadlift weight as well probably and work up as I go.
