3mg works for me as well. I take another if i wake up before midnight.

I have also found cutting out caffiene and sugar helps, as does not eating after 6pm.
and all the things Jim mentioned help.

I think you have to play around a bit and find your own formula.

My co-worker takes 2 chewable tablets and she says it works well. But, she has had pills that don't seem to work as fast and have made her feel hung over the next day.

Good points.

When I was on shift, I used melatonin and it seemed to work for me. I also came across melatonin tea at Walmart in the US and found it really worked better than the pills.

CO, Perhaps you have some anxiety/stress going on as well that a lot of us are not even aware of? This may sound weird to a lot of people but get in touch with yourself and really listen to your body. You won't do it over night, it does take time.

The more I take that Costco sleep aid, the more wild my dreams have been getting. Not sure if I'm liking that.

Melatonin is natural so I take that. I am usually asleep within 30mins of taking a plain melatonin (no other sleep additives in it just the natural pill) 3mg.
When I was taking an over the counter sleep aid my dreams were some kind of messed up...but with the natural melatonin supplement my dreams are normal. Also it is non-addictive so I don't take it when I am on days-off.....only when I am working my nights.

I talked to a friend of mine tonight who swears by Melatonin but said it doesn't do him any good in doses less than 15mg. So, I just took 15mg and I'll letcha know how it goes. I couldn't find Melatonin tea anywhere but I did pick up Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer tea and just enjoyed a cup. Interesting combination of tastes. We'll see if the medicinal properties are legit.

Well CO..... how is the sleep going fella? I don't sleep well either. I started taking Advil nightim after nights most times and sometimes before I go to bed at night and to be honest, it works well with me. :)

Had to O.D. every night for it to work, 6 to 8 pills. Some brands are better than others. Some are full of sugar. The best advice for sleep is if you can't sleep rest.

That's WAY too much.....I've never seen any of the brands I've used being "full of sugar"

Ahahaha....just read this..

Well, CO hasn't answered the post yet....could be he's still sleeping.

Italian Girl: 6-8 pills at night at your age??! That's some messed up!

You need to excercise and get your self nice and tired by night time. At the least tired enough so you can take a normal dose of sleep aide.... :dubious:

I'm back on straight days so sleep isn't great cause I get up early but hate going to bed early. The 15mg of Melatonin didn't have much noticable effect.
