Good job!!! What league do you play in? I only play shinny in the winter cause I coach my son's Atom team and the schedule is all over the place! But in the summer, my friend and I started a team ( THE WEASELS) and we play at the UOIT center in Oshawa. I used to play in the GM league.

I play in the CIHL Senior AA for the Williams lake Stampeders (I didn't play a game this year, didn't want to injure myself) I also play in a rec league, and an Inter mill league for the company I work for. I also help coach my son's team, there is no spring league here they take the ice out so it's roller hockey.

I have made it a week now. Still twitchy, but managing.

Sense of smell came back.

How about sense of taste? I remember a family member who quit after many years and realized that they hadn't tasted food properly in years!
Keep it up and good luck!!!

Well, it's Friday afternoon and I'm enjoying an ice cold beer and a wonderfully satisfying smoke as I peruse the forums. Damn, that feeling I get when I take a deep drag is fantastic. So soothing.

Yeah. You can be Harley Davidson and I'll be the Marlboro Man.

Enjoy it. I'm at 3 weeks without smoking as of this coming Friday.

I loved smoking, probably why its so hard to quit.

I have to say though, I am quite happy with the increase in cardiovascular ability. My running, jogging, rowing, stairs all the across the board increased about 400%.

I quit once before, about two years ago, and lasted almost a year. That time, I did not notice nearly the same dramatic increase.

And now that I know why that attempt failed, hopefully I won't make the same mistake again. I screwed up that attempt by thinking, "I can just have one or two now and then, its been almost a year, I can smoke part-time." Totally deluded myself. I know now that I cannot trust myself to have even one cigarette, or I am off the wagon. I may have the will power to quit cold turkey, but I don't have the willpower to quit all over again every time I have one.

Italiangirl, I have heard the same thing from some of my friends. A friend of mine still chews the gum three years after quitting. One of the reasons why I avoided it. Once the nicotine is out of your system, its all in your head anyway, regular gum works just fine to keep yourself distracted and take the place of the cigarette. I like "Fishermen's Friends" rather than gum.

Well let me tell you, he doesn't fuck around.

I'm sure he doesn't f**k around but this thread is about quitting smoking not to come here and brag about how much he loves it, if he likes it so much go rave about it in another thread. Some people find it hard enough to knock the habit we don't need some inconsiderate ass to blow smoke in our faces in a place some people turn to for help and recognition.
It's like walking into an AA convention with a rum and coke and bragging about how good it tastes, it shows a great lack of character on his part.
