RCMP softshell jacket

Postby Cage » Sun Nov 01, 2015 2:33 pm

Any mounties on here know the brand/make/model of the (recently) new soft-shell jacket issued? I wore that thing all winter in manitoba and really liked the windstopping ability without being too cumbersome and hate wearing my CPS issued soft-shell. Trying to see if they make a darker blue type and if our SM would be interested in it.

Conversely, If any CPS have seen our new jackets that are just being rolled out are they a little bit sleeker/more water resistant? (less external fleece?) I know they're juuuuust hitting the streets but I haven't seen any floating around 7 dist. yet to check out.

I wanna get one for myself too, they are great.

Apparel Trimmings Inc.
RCMP jacket, Patrol, Softshell # 4005 579

Took the info off of mine.

A lot of members do their own POLICE RCMP-GRC lettering.

VanSmack refers to this "interesting" look wearing SBA over the Softshell.

And as he says, it is actually a nice peace of kit. Definitely an improvement over the older one. They make pants (rain type) of same material/feel. I have seen so far a couple only. Not sure if Stores issued but made by same company.

Yes.. Not sure what the Aux is sporting but it is some sort of gottex jacket.

I also have the 511 Tactical Series. I actually like it too and just like all the members around here have done the patching/lettering on my own.
Dave's Tactical in NWest can point members where to do it all. And it's like $24.

Edit:
:), or was 24$ 4 years ago.

Oh.. There is a fleece made to go with the new Softshell, I have it but never actually wore with it.

Dave's has some on "the floor" too but all I saw were jackets with Police wording only. No RCMP-GRC

If my memory serves me right, the Velcro addon on shoulders, chest and the actual patches was 10$.. or 5$
My jacket at 150$ came plane. Had to do all the addons myself.

Thanks guys, from what I can see you can't exactly order a single jacket from that company, they must be just a supplier for the RCMP. That's what I loved about it though, it fit perfect, was thin enough to keep on in the car without sweating out and dying but blocked the wind enough that barring outdoors continuity in -35 you could wear it throughout winter. I should check out the 5.11 then for something similar?

Unless someone has a soft-shell in XL regular and hates it and wants to send it to me hahaah 8)

I wear my vest over my softshell all the time. But I ordered my jacket short so it stops just above my belt, therefor no extra material to get in the way.

I love my cascade fleece. All their stuff is made to order so I was able to get a custom size (I'm a little on the tall side).

Cascades in Vancouver makes a better softshell, looks similar but real gortex.

I think the RCMP based theirs on that design. I had one for a year or two before the rcmp issued them. Since you can order one a year I have it in outer sba size and one to wear sba over
