R.Nicholls status

Postby mark y » Tue Aug 05, 2014 3:07 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can confirm what's happening with R Nicholls right now? I've heard reports that they have exited the clothing business as of July 31, and a report this morning from a local police member who said that R Nicholls is completely out of business. Their website is still up and their phones are being answered (at least, by the auto-attendant), so I doubt they are completely gone....

Does anyone have the inside scoop on this?

Thanks.

They closed the yorkdale location and scarborough location.

The mississauga one at dixie is the last one in the GTA that is open

I just ordered a few cases of MK4 OC, and they should be here this week. No mention of anything. Except, my sales rep did say however, that he would no longer be with R Nicholls due to 'downsizing', and that now I'll be ordering off a rep in Quebec. Sign of the times I suppose...

From what I recall the Ottawa location also closed up shop?

About a month ago they were having this CRAZY sale, all the clothing items in the Clarence section were $1.00 each... Yeah, one dollar each... So you grab 10 jackets worth $80.00 each, you'd pay only $10.00!

That didn't last long, some knob came by and bought up EVERYTHING... So I'm sure you'll see the items at a Flea Market or another store before too long.

I actually drove by there yesterday (closed because of the Civic Holiday), they had a sign on the door "All clothing items 50% off".

Thanks, all. Their website only lists the head office and Mississauga (Dixie) office now.

Their "Contact Us" page still has everybody listed though, I think, including the aforementioned BC Rep and others. I had one of our local departments tell me last month that the BC rep is going away and they'd now be dealing with an Alberta-based rep, but that may have just been preliminary info.

ATR I think the last time I was there was when I ran into you there.
I would stop in for something specific, as a last resort if none of my other spots had what I was looking for.

Actually, we had already been dealing with an Alberta rep (out of Edmonton). And now he's gone, we're dealing directly back east.

Just here now, more so for information gathering... I spoke with the young lady here and they are not closing, they are just getting out of the clothing part of it... So foot ware is not on special, nor is any of the duty equipment to the right side as you walk in. She wouldn't tell me who bought up all the Clarence Section clothing, so no clue where that will end up appearing for sale. (our Volunteer Group would send all our new people here to get their clothing, since it was decent for the amount of times we need a uniform).

As for the "brown fellow", I knew if I needed patches put on a non Traditions 4 piece of clothing, it would never get approved with him around, but the young lady would always take care of me. They did quick decent work, I never had any complaints, well except this one time they sewed one of our patches on sideways... It was quickly fixed while we waited.

I asked if prices would be dropping any lower than 50% off, it's not known at this time.

No more pants for the Mississauga location? Got mine from them and loved it. Better than the issued crap. OTOH it has worn out little over a year.
