Under armour boots

Postby TwE@k » Thu Mar 22, 2012 8:10 pm

So........It is boot time again and I have come across some of Under Armour stuff that looks like it may be good. Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to try any of them on or even better, wear them for duty?

Dude. You write parking tickets.

Not really what Under Armor had in mind for their products.

Tactical Products Canada has both the High and Low models.

I think they are nice for fair weather wear.

Nevermind Parking tickets, I need a SUPER ninja tactical boot with all kinds of cool features to stand in tims parking lots with you and drink coffee.

Seriously though, I just want to know about the valsetz/speed freaks or the breech boots. I need something that is going to be able to stand up to the beating my boots take while on the motorcycles. I was talking to FR and he said his 5.11's have lasted him the better part of 4 years. Mine are about a year and a hlaf old and are shagged. Plus.......they are cheap enough that I won't have to pay out of pocket at all for them with my boot allowance.

Look into one of the 5.11 boots that has a reinforced toe....either the HRT or the XPRT both have rubberized toe cap reinforced with the "kick toe" system. I have the HRT I wear for patrol and love them. Comfortable as hell.

I bet you rip the toes out of those UA boots in no time.....they look too light for anything.

FR, I was thinking the speed freaks/valsetz looked a bit flimsy (probably super comfortable though). The Breech boots seem a bit more sturdy. I Like 5.11 but I find they wear out fast. I used to wear originals. They were great when I first started wearing them but the quality control took a nose dive the last few years. I had one pair with a defective side zip and one that the sole peeled clean off. I like my 5.11's but for the money I think there could be better out there.

After researching both the Speed Freak and Valsetz, I went with the Speed Freaks. Before my purchase, I tried the camo version on at Dick's in Watertown and found my size. I then purchased them from a supplier from Ebay for $170.00 CDN and shipped via USPS.
A CDN supplier wanted $220.00 for the same thing delivered to the door.

had a pair of UA boots, the gortex ones, they are light and comfy and feel VERY similary to their running shoes. on a recommendation of a buddy from the CF i tried out a pair of the oakley tac boots, have had them for well over a year and have loved them every step of the way (pardon the pun)

Go into a retailer, try them on, walk out, and buy online? Nice.

Did you at least give the retailer a chance to get close to the ebay price?
