I thought they lifted that?
We're permitted to get them here now...

I have a question regarding the boots we are supposed to get.

When they say zippers aren't allowed, do they mean boots with only a zipper and no laces? are side zippers allowed?

Zippers are not allowed at all. I believe they are allowed in marine, though. Reasoning being they could more easily be removed in the water. Maybe someone in marine could confirm/deny.

Side zips are "not allowed".

Zippers aren't allowed but if you read the actual policy it's only referring to front zippers instead of laces. Go figure.

I can't remember what ones I had. They were horrendous boots, had to double sock because of the bleeding callouses. I think they're around here somewhere....

Hey guys, new here.

What are people using currently for boots that conform to the uniform policy?
-waterproof
-csa
-no side zip
Is that correct?

And any local lower mainland/Vancouver area places to go that are recommended, thanks for any input.

(Most cp/ct wp boots that I have been finding all have a side zip)

Originally got them about 2.5 years ago, just yesterday I threw on an identical pair I ordered online a few weeks ago to replace the older ones. Very comfortable and they lasted me the two+ years pretty well. I can't speak to real world waterproofing but they meet the policy.

Agreed. I had those same ones for 2 years. They are available in wide versions and are just about the only boot you can find that will actually last for the ridiculous CBSA 2-year requirement.

Thanks for the replies,

I guess only a couple options in my area then if I can locate some Bates to try on from a retailer. Do they run true to size? I got a chance to try on a pair of Magnums linked below but the durability worries me.

I went through a pair of Magnum's every 6 months for years before they allowed us to buy our own and be reimbursed.

Magnums are garbage.

The Bates do run true to size and I think their customer service for returns is pretty good.
