I called a recruiter and was told I'd need a related 2 year diploma course, or a license in heavy duty. I was told my engineering education, red seal journeyman automotive license, and 3 years trucking experience with a squeaky clean class 1 license (longhaul and oilfield) don't count for anything towards the application and I'd be denied right away. I was pretty set back by it all as I have grown up around heavy trucks. My dad has been a truck driver for over 30 years. Being around them is almost second nature to me. I was shocked it didn't count for anything.....so I'm really not sure how an overpriced 3 month course would make all the difference?

I took the course, it's good. It got me a job with saskatchewan commercial vehicle. Everybody in my class had that course. I guess ut depends which province you want to work for.

I am looking for a school offering a Masters Degree in Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, preferably with a specialty in measuring push-rod travel on manual slack adjusters.

Send money, I'll print out a fancy certificate that says whatever you want it to...you don't even have to submit a thesis.

I have over 20 years experince in Military Transportation, that was no good either!! I guess they want you to have a 2 year law enforcement diploma, so they have spend less on training you?

Lethbridge College's Criminal Justice program has an excellent reputation in the law enforcement community. So if you are interested in Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, you won't go wrong with the program.

I went to the college as well for another LE course (degree) excellent school and instructors. Their degree was the national standard up until about 6 years ago in my field.

Do you need a law enforcement diploma to join the Alberta Sheriffs? If not, you could join them and later transfer over??
