Hamilton Regional Unmarked
Hamilton Regional Unmarked
I've searched and searched, but can anyone point me to the thread that contained a picture of Hamilton's (I think) unmarked traffic unit that resembles a taxi? I think it's maroon and has a white taxi hat on the roof with the services phone number on it. Thank you!

Ah, it was Halton Region, not Hamilton. My bad. Thank you! I love that thing! I'm trying to get the powers-that-be to look into a dedicated traffic car. We are a small town with a major U.S. highway that runs through the middle. We have one slicktop, but like our other cars, it's white, and sticks out like a sore thumb. I think a car in a non-typical color is just what we need...and the taxi sign is just an added bonus!

A little inside humour, I was told the the phone number on the taxi sign is for the Halton Police's front desk.

What became of it? Is it parked or did it get relegated to patrol?
Re: Hamilton Regional Unmarked
I imagine they just took the sign off the roof and kept using it.

Ya.....Hamilton doesn't have any cabs that look that good. It would really stick out in the Hammer. I mean...no dings, or duct tape.

I used to see that car around Milton and honestly it was kinda funny...
Not funny because people wouldn't neccessarily realize it wasn't a police car, but.. Funny because it looked like a desperate tactic on the part of the HRPS.
What's next...?
Y'gonna have cops drining around in ice cream trucks looking for offenders..?
I wonder how many people got yelled at by the officer(s) driving that car for not pulling over quickly enough..

Not much difference between that an an officer walking along Queen St., seeing a driver without a seatbelt and initiating contact.
It's not like they're "driving" around in street cars...
