The first model to be available will be the 355hp 6.0L V8 RWD (with 6-speed trans. with 'sport' mode) and the V6 model will be coming in 2012-ish.
Though the car has a center console shifter, GM has listened to the law enforcement input and has moved the shifter as far forward and off-center to the left as possible, opening up the center area quite nicely for equipment. The seats are comfy and it has 4" more legroom than the Crown Vic. The trunk is massive and neatly carries a fullsize spare with no loss of trunk space.

That was the original plan a couple years ago but it's a very different car now. I've spoken to a couple fleet managers (both are police officers with 25+ yrs exp.)who have seen it recenty and both were extremely impressed by it. They said that the console shifter isn't nearly as much of an issue now that it's been relocated.Sleepless In E wrote:This is pretty much a Pontiac G8 with a bowtie is it not?

WHAT WAS SO WRONG WITH A COLUMN SHIFTER?!
That's 355hp and 384 lb-ft of torque running 87 octane. Maybe not high output for a big V8, but that indicates that the engine is not a high-strung & high-maintenance sports car engine. And a 6-spd auto transmission should give pretty good getup & go.devilwoman wrote:Not great horsepower for a 6L V8......The first model to be available will be the 355hp 6.0L V8 RWD
Unfortunately the peak torque is pretty high - 4400rpm. Not sure about the weight (did not see it on the Chev site).
In comparison, the Ford with EcoBoost puts out 365hp & 350 lb-ft torque. But that torque is available from 1500 rpm up to 5200 rpm - looks like a wider powerband than the Chevy. Again, could not find the weight (which will vary with installed equip), but either one looks like a fast ride.
are you kidding. She loves that thing way too much, she wraps it in a diaper and feeds it a bottle in the garage all winterparks department dave wrote:do you drive that gorgeous challenger in the winter devilwoman?
