On the policecanada.ca website, there is a picture of a new Charger for the RCMP.

On the car, it is written "Auxiliary Constable".

Can anyone tell me why should Auxiliary have a marked PC with emergency lights and all ?

Is that new or ?

Thanks.

I only drove the bug once....once.....now there are rookies to do that, I put in my time.

The new B & W was for a parade so I got "special" permission to punt a RM into a rattletrap old CVPI.

Yeah, a Charger assigned to the Auxiliary...nice.

Only need to ride in it once and you will be that bug guy forever. :P

Why would A/Csts need a dedicated patrol vehicle, when A/Csts are NOT supposed to be doing ANY work by themselves? We are barely able to take A/Csts out with us for either GD or TS work here in "F" Div, and "E" Div, or at least Burnaby, has a separate vehicle? How screwed up is that?

IN "E" Div when auxiliaries were dis-armed, the policy was changed so that auxiliares can do Community Policing activities, without a regular member. "E" Div policy requires that ride-along hours for the year, only equal 30% of an auxiliarys total hours. The other 70% must be spent doing community policing events.

Do aux members get the same police driving training as RM's

If not, whats with the full light package if they will never need to use it?

The reason for the full light package would be because it is a RM car. The Aux decal is most likely magnetic and comes off. The car would not be a dedicated Aux car (although they have them in the NYPD), just marked up when used by an Aux.

OPP does the same thing; we just don't mark the car. Still take it out with full light package. For an example, when I assist with the repatriation details for fallen soldiers. I'm alone closing the on-ramp to the 401 and then driving in the convoy. As long as I am in radio contact and danger is presumed low, we're good to go.

This is not a RM car. It an auxiliary program vehicle. I think Burnaby also has two un-marked vans and a marked Dodge Dakota.

I think it's fully outfitted so RMs could have an extra car on the road if need be.

Don't forget, Aux members use the light bar when performing traffic duties at parades and such.

I saw the York Regional Police Safety Bug yesterday on the 404 northbound from Markham... Just before I exited at Wellington Street he stopped for a vehicle that went into the centre median ditch... They have some fancy lights on that little Bug! 8)

Remember, that in the event of a large scale disaster Aux Officers can be called up and become sworn officers... therefore the vehicle's equipment could be used fully... as well, closing a road for an event or parade requires a full light package...
