I find it troubling in a way that people are calling for a tazer in this situation, as far as I was trained knife = serious bodily harm or death = firearm, we already have a tool to use in this situation, don't need a tazer.

Though I suppose with that many officers on scene one can deploy a tazer with everyone else providing cover with their firearms.

:stupid:

I agree. The world is going nuts with wanting "less than lethal" or "less lethal" weapons.

Maybe Spiderman could have swung down and tied him up in a big web?

The asshat was wielding two butcher knives.

2 x lethal weapons = response with lethal force. Period.

If they had shot him, "critics" would have been sounding the taser alarm or opining rhetorically, "Why didn't they shoot him in the leg, or shoot the knives out of his hands?"

Enough is enough.

I laughed, laughed and laughed some more.

Kind of makes the Police Service Board look stupid that no officers on scene had a taser. For those that do not know they voted down buying them for all Supervisors and left them with the ETF only because they wanted more studies.

The TPS officers saved them allot of embarrassment today.

Funny thing, I heard on the news that the Toronto Police Services board voted this afternoon to buy 200 more Tasers. HMM what could have possibly brought them onboard?

It's not every day you get checked by a Crown Vic.

The uncensored clip from the other side of the car is a bit more dramatic.

Did they ever show that clip on the news?

Both times I saw the clip on tv, it was the shorter clip from the right-side of the car.

I think they did a good job disabling the guy.

A good take down for sure. I am amazed that the guys wasn't injured more than he was.

Did you see how close he got to that one cop? The cop just skipped backwards and waved his gun at him with one hand (right before the guy got taken out by the car)

I would have loved to see the look on his face as he tried to run away from the cruiser. I'm pretty sure in the raw footage you can hear the camera man let out a slight chuckle when the guy gets pinned.

I saw this clip yesterday. I agree with JeffBB. Tasers would have been great with that many officers providing leathal backup a taser would have been very effective.

I heard on the news today and on AM640 that the TPS PSB just approved the purchase of 100 new tasers for frontline officers.

here is the link for that story.

DAMN!, I was only able to watch the story on CFTO news and they only had the view from the righthand side... Pusle24 has a great view. That video is great!

Man, Toronto is on a role. I was at the farmer protest command post when today's incident occured. (Man who lit himself on fire in the budget van). That was crazy and again job well done.

The farmers got gyped. ;)

Does anyone know, is there a way to save this video footage to disk??

I have tried all I can think of and any SAVE option is always blacked out. I have tried Windows Media Player, Nero Media Player, Real Player, etc. all without success.

Even changing the extension to other common formats (wmv, asf) still allows the file to play but not be saved.

How can I save this video file?

Yeah, it was going on for like an hour. I heard the call on the radio and we couldn't believe it everyone thought it was one of the farmers.
