How to deal with individuals who want to pick fights?

Postby fallbrook » Tue Feb 02, 2010 1:54 pm

What are the procedures recommended by the law enforcement community with individuals who wish to provoke a fight?
Are there criminal breaches to be invoked and /or civil remedies to be had?

It's not illegal to consensually fight.

Two people can consent to fight and there is no CC breach, a breach woud occur when one or both or the parties sustains an injury that is "more than trifling in nature". A CC breach for "cause disturbance by fighting" could also be thrown at ya. So if you are going to consent to fight then do it in your own home.

why do you wnat to know? huh. hmmm. huh?

You appear to have misinterpreted the question, but your reply implies that people can engage in duels. If so, with what means, registered firearms or bodily remedies? What ends the contest? Surrender, wounding or death?

The actual question wished to deals with situations where a party wishes not to engage in a fight which is being provoked by another individual.

Duelling is illegal. Consensual fights are not. Don't want to fight, just walk away. Don't they teach that in grade 1 any more?

Duelling is not the same as a consensual fight.

Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop-heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow"

This question is ridiculous.... are you suggesting a rare scenario where police are present while two individuals are ready to throw bombs? OR are you talking about someone who saunters around town and informs people that they will be in a fight against him soon? Or are you a security guard who has to break up a lot of fights? Just separate them for pete sake. Unless they are scrapping over a buxom woman, then let them go at it. SHe needs to feel special too
