Me: If you move to grab that knife, I'll shoot you in the face.
Him: (astonished) In the face???
Me: In the face.
Him: Why not in the arm.
Me: Because you could get up. You have a lot more vital stuff behind your face and I don't want you to get back up.
Him: well that's not very nice.
Me: I don't particularly care.

I've only encountered a knife "situation" once... I was a Volunteer Firefighter with Brampton at the time, I heard a call for smoke on Steeles just east of the tracks between Airport & Goreway... I was just leaving the Flea Market in the same area so I went over to take a boo... There was a partial foundation of a Barn there, that's where the smoke was coming from. As I approached I called into Fire Dispatch to update them... As I got to the entry point of the foundation there was a homeless person there doing some cooking, I noticed a utility knife sitting in plain sight and thought uh-oh...

So I quickly mentioned that I was with the Fire Department and there was a call for smoke in the area, I pointed towards the homes in Malton and said that the call likely came from down there, at that point the homeless guy looked in that direction and I snatched the knife away and hid it among the crumbling brick work... I backed out and gave the Dispatcher an update so they could send Peel Police.

Why'd you update to get the police? Fire could have brought some steaks and potato salad.

I just assumed they always had a supply of s'mores materials in the trucks with them.

Serious meals for serious heroes. S'mores are lightweight.

I can assure you when I go to my buddy's fire hall, I eat very well.

I even tend the BBQ and stove when they have to leave.
If you do not have access to the private side please do not contact me. I do not give employment advice other than what is publicly posted.

Well, they do have a lot of nice pillows there, it'd be hard to resist.

A friend is with Toronto FIre, a couple of us were complaining about being tired, not sleeping well the night before. He said he'd got a good eight hours, felt great. We asked if he'd been working; "Yup", he said with a grin. -sigh-

Can't have a homeless guy possessing a utility knife.

God knows where society would end up if we did,
He who allows oppression, shares the crime.
