Pretty much how it usually goes with most regulated industries... Thousands of companies but a handful of inspectors. Nice when it is law versus just administrative though.

Pete Broccolo wrote:From what I understand, the RCMP did not even issue metal ID badges until the 1950s or 1960s, as I read a story about how, during WWII, members in Saskatchewan who were repairing radio tower sites were approached by farmers with firearms who thought the members were Nazi / Axis "agents" - the members supposedly showed the "warrants of appointment", or ID cards.

I had to surrender my silver badge when I received my gold one - I was not quick enough to have "lost" it while "fishing" when "my wallet, which contained my badge, fell out of my back pocket, and I was unable to retrieve it, as I was out at the deepest part of Lake Whatever-Which-Is-Known-To-Be-Badass-Deep", as happened to a few much-longer-serving members back then.

Very interesting stuff and it wouldn't surprise me that something like that happened with the farmers... Your fishing trip reminds me of those tiny, barely perceptible, kittens which like to run out in front of patrol vehicles or them trees which jump outta nowhere that I keep hearing about in the States

Side note: I once broke the fuel cap door on a patrol vehicle when my handcuff case caught on it. Few believed me even when I showed them the door was at the exact height of it. Should have gotten the video from the gas station! Thankfully another one of the same year got written off shortly thereafter and we just swapped them out. :smirk: (Hope that is the only damage I ever do but I got 25+ years to go so... :twitch: )

I know for myself my ID card is the legal document as well, not my badge.
Humour and sarcasm are my default options. Except on Tuesdays.

They blocked me on Instagram... Damnit.

They replied to one of my comments about their powers of arrest stating they could arrest someone from "Criminal Trespass" then shut me out.

I believe the only reason they are gun hoe on arresting person or persons on alleged committed criminal offences is
They are billing them a surcharge after the arrest. Do you think ?

Real professional with profanity for a video. Just alone from that video, I wouldn’t hire them !
