Impersonate Peace Officer

Postby Boxer Dogs » Wed Jun 07, 2017 5:43 pm

Hey guys

I know there's a few who are big into shoulder flash collecting. Does anyone recognize this shoulder flash or the person wearing it? http://www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/Media ... ficer.aspx

Gold border indicates it is neither CVE Branch nor Sheriffs Branch (Current Patch anyway). I'd venture it is either a county or municipal bylaw patch. Could be someone who managed to get a couple for their 'collection.'

Looking at City of Edmonton Transit Peace Officers/Community Standards Peace Officers and their patches it could be a rough match.

Weird, Alberta Peace Officer shirts are grey and the pic clearly shows a navy blue short sleeve, EPS is navy but the patch is too big to be an EPS one. Either way, hope the POS gets caught before anyone else is hurt.

There are three lines of text embroidered beneath the crest. Looks like it says "Municipal Enforcement Officer" or "Municipal Law Enforcement Officer".

Maybe they should look to their own Peace Officers

i believe they wear blue shirts.
Transit wears Grey Shirts, and it's definitely not Sheriffs, Corrections or CVE.

In reality, it's the same as parking enforcement: contracted peace officers. (Commissionaires for photo radar, Paladin Security for parking). Very limited scope of authority.

I'm glad EPS caught this POS! I hope they throw the book at him!

On a side note, Im not a fan of contracting that type of work out. They should be employed by the city, not a private business.

Good catch, what a piece of shit. Unfortunate that he was actually a LEO.

I don't mind the idea of contracting it out to private organizations as long as they keep it to low level/low priority law enforcement.

Having said that, I believe that the level of screening and training should be on par with provincial and municipal agencies. If a private organization can't uphold and prescribe to the standard, then they don't get to have peace officers.
