Why in God's name would anyone give a 9 year old to handle an Uzi or anything that spits bullets for that matter.

Full auto may be crazy without someone else holding on but teaching kids to shoot isn't (IMO). My kid will learn to shoot by 3. Look up Tori Nonaka. Been shooting since she was 3 and now travels the world on Team Glock. Some parents teach their kids golf or baseball... We like shooting. Simple gun safety is all that is necessary. (again IMO)

You mean simple gun safety like not letting a 9 year old kid fire an Uzi on full auto? I agree.

So not only is the instructor dead and his family is without a husband/father, a 9 year old girl is now probably traumatized for life. Epic epic fail.

A better question is why do you hate Freedom, Jesus, and 'murica?

A tragic event, but made MUCH worse by the over-sensationalism of social networking. Everyone who passes on a link to this video has pretty much guaranteed that 9-year-old's life is now destroyed forever. It had nothing to do with her, but she will bear the brunt of the blame the rest of her life. It's the so-called "adults" who thought this might have been a good idea who should be blamed.

But with the media and social networking frenzy going on, no one is pointing out that this tragic event is VERY rare. Target shooting is one of the safest sports in the world (and has one of the lowest insurance rates.) Based on accident and injury statistics, a parent should much rather have their 9-year-old involved in target shooting instead of football or soccer.

Hundreds of kids are injured every year in hockey, football and soccer. No one can remember the last time someone was injured on a shooting range in Canada. (Statistics prove this.) So let's not over-sensationalize what is a rare and tragic event. Let's also not spread a story that will further destroy an innocent girl's life.

I felt a little different after watching the short clip leading up to the shot. I assumed they just gave her a gun and stood behind her but the video shows he had two hands on her, one on her back and his left on her support arm. I think it was just a freak accident that she lost grip and his attempt to support the support arm didn't stop it.

Extremely unfortunate but I agree, not worth the sensationalism that followed.
