-liability insurance coverage,
-proper training, and
-proper equipment for this type of volunteering?

Commander and Chief PooBah Edgerton posted a while back explaining why they didn't need all that pesky insurance nonsense. They're only trying to help people, ya know! Who could fault them for that?
