This reminds me of a funny story at Casino Niagara when it first opened.
A 17 year old male of ethnic decent was never challenged by security at the entrance and was always allowed to pass due to his mature like complexion and facial hair.
By 18 he was a frequent patron and was even sent promotions in the mail and the casino even sent a limo once to pick him up.
One night he was challenged by a security officer when he was still 18.
Long story short, him and his family sued the casino because now the boy claimed he had a gambling addiction thanks to the casino not doing their job by properly ID’ing him.
Needles to say the casino lost big time and had to pay the family a lot of money.

After that they now stamp patrons hands that were ID’d signifying to all employees on the gaming floor to ID them before they buy a drink, get chips, claim prizes.
Doesn’t really make sense but then again that’s casino Niagara for you.

Our society is in the shitter right now because nobody is responsible for their own actions anymore.
Waaaa I chose to gamble my life away....it's the government's fault for not stopping me!
Waaa I choose to drink myself to oblivion everyday....it's the LCBO's fault for selling me beer!
Waaa I choose to play video games and drink monster energy drinks instead of doing my homework and I got a zero.....it's my teacher's fault!

Man up, take some f-king responsibility for yourself, admit you made a mistake, and change the way you act.

These types of lawsuits make me sick to my stomach.

When I was in university, I knew a girl who said to me that she lost her scholarship because her prof didn't give her an A. I said that she didn't get an A because she didn't work hard enough. She never did figure out what I meant. I was never a great student, but I knew why, and it had nothing to do with the professors.

Contrarily, when my wife was in law school, she got an A on a paper. The prof told her that she hasn't given out an A in years. But I saw the effort that my wife put into that class, and it is something that has translated into every part of her life.

On a side note, was there ever a successful lawsuit against the government over cancer and smoking?
K division.

But does the government owe you a duty of care?
