I thought it was going to be an article about the US President giving the CBSA, and I was thinking that doesn't make any damn sense...

...the Presidential Citation for Meritorious Service stands as the highest honour the Agency can confer on its employees. It will be awarded to individuals who have:

Distinguished themselves by providing an exceptionally high standard of service over a long period of time; or

Performed a single meritorious service which resulted in considerable benefit to the Agency and made a significant contribution to the safety and security of Canadians.

And the first to be awarded the prestigious citation....the vice-president of the agency! Can you believe they actually had the balls to do that? haha

They are so fucking clueless sometimes. Same on the local level, the vast majority of 'awards' go to paper pushers, not front line officers.
Le sigh :(

It's wildly inappropriate and shameful.

The CF is no different. I watched a major be awarded a Chief of Defence Staff commendation for answering the phone professionally.......no joke

 Amazing!!! I have a friend who works for the CBSA and has recieved a bronze medal from The Royal Canadian Humane Association for his actions - CBSA awarded him, who knows??. Now you are telling me that there is now an internal award system in place that would recognise the efforts of the officers and the first one goes to a desk jockey :dubious:

All of the examples cited above sound like the First Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence.

Don't forget the whole BS about the PPCLI snipers being initially denied the right to wear the Silvers Stars they earned in 02.

That is ridiculous. I am going to send mine back now.

Seriously, If that is what the citation is about, I wouldn't even want one. Change Agenda my ass

Maybe nobody else submitted a nomination?

It was actually a case of someone who was acting as a VP of Ops during the Olympics. Being thrown into such a responsibility when you are only filling in is certainly a challenge. Of course they still put her back to her substantive DG position afterwards :). She has been with Customs for a long time.

Let me guess... the major gave an active offer of service in both official languages?
