Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

That's right... The age you are when you start dictates how long you'll have to work in order to retire with full pension. There's no set term of service. That said... Most retirees I know ended up with at least 30 to 37 years in. I'll retire at 57 with 33 years service. (57+33=90) Pension is 2% fo...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

In terms of hours at Niagara, Hamilton and Toronto South. I’m currently at TSDC off the last intake and we get our 40 hours plus overtime. I have friends at Niagara and they are only getting 12-24 hours a week scheduled and sit by their phones everyday hoping for a call for extra hours. I’m not exa...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

This is a silly question but just curious. What happens if your uniform doesn't fit after a while? Lets say you gain/lose a lot of weight during COTA or even after deployment. Is there flexibility in getting a new uniform? You just request an exchange, it's not a problem. Make sure to check pants, ...

Yeah found out he just ran away. And there is an AED on the unit. Buddy just didn’t want anything to do with it. Something tells me that he won't have a long career in corrections Dude, he will be a supervisor one day and telling people how they should have handled stuff better. [/quote] Actually, ...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Can anyone give a rough idea of how tough the COTA was? I understand you must follow schedule but how was the training content. I'm not really a book person but did find the Ppe reading assessment pretty straight forward. Just wondering if it was as stressful as final exams or something like that. ...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Oh good. Something to look forward too. I also don't mind bitch work but I dont like being walked all over either. Can't think of anyone who does. Hopefully nobody will ever need favours. I wouldn't stress over it. Most people, regardless of time-in, are respectful and welcoming. Some will be short...

I emailed recruitment and they confirmed that they recently got my clearance certificate and that all is left is for a hiring manager to give either a final approval or disapproval. Re: Ontario Correctional Services

About the most recent posting for the '200' positions of Correctional Officer.. The status as per the job posting (m) has been 'application screening' since the deadline/closing date of September 26, 2017, and the email I received upon applying stated that application screening takes 4-6 weeks. It'...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

I received my conditional offer last week and will be attending Cota January 15th, I just have a couple questions for any experienced correctional officers. I was told that the institution I was hoping to get into was no longer accepting new hires so I chose the Sudbury jail which is 3 hours away f...
