Re: Ask A BC Sheriff

Hi friends,

Those who completed the SRT, do they have a '3 strike' rule during classes? I had a friend fail a few times on the pistol and they gave him the boot.
A posting has come up for Feb and I think I might want to try it again, they'll also take a PARE time which I am currently training for.

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

I walked into my SAR base a few days after my interview and my crew Captain said "Yo, I got this reference thing from Corrections Canada, it took 2 hours to fill out." I checked in with my other reference and he got the same thing. Every step in the process aside from the final of CTP 1 and my SJT/W...

Re: BC Corrections

I withdrew my app. I've got a tiny foot injury I want to fix before running the COPAT.

I've been advised the next posting for BC Corrections will be July 6th, as per recruiters.

Good luck to everyone this round!

Re: BC Corrections

I completed my REACT on June 8th and this morning I had my SSQ form sitting in my inbox. Due to covid, I'm not holding my breath for the process to be quick for us. At CSC, I was in Kingston in 6 months after submitting application but they were in dire need for officers. So I'm curious to see how i...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

If anyone is stuck in the process not knowing what's happening. Do not be afraid to email your recruiters. They're very helpful. Type that email with the utmost professionalism and you'll be good. It also shows interest that you want the position. Everything you do from application till that final d...

Re: BC Corrections

Thank you. I'm looking forward to it cause there's a ton of opportunity within BC Corrections and since it's still Provincial, I could move into Sheriff or elsewhere, and I'm sure the experience I'd get from it and other things I do, would help me get into Police if I decide down the road.

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

If you were given an option to work min/med vs max institution what would the majority of you applicants pick? Just curious if there is a benefit at working at one Vs the other. Any input would be great. If I were to make a recommendation, it would be that every new officer should have to do their ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Got an offer for Drumheller, training to start in PEI April 21. Tough decision because that’s a 1 1/2hr commute for me and I also have an offer from the provincial govt. But then again the provincial govt in AB is surely heading for big cuts so it might not be a secure job. For reference, my last c...

Has anyone who has gotten an offer for PEI class 10, 11 or 12 received CTP 2 information yet?
Haven't received CTP 2 information yet but did get my invite for April 28. Hope to recieve it soon.
Dayuuum, they are pushing them through if you don't have CTP2 but your conditional letter for 3.

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

This is really painful waiting to hear from CSC. :banghead: You're not missing much. The stories I am hearing about institutions from the people who graduated in my core. Kinda sad, I didn't graduated, but the flipside is thank god I didn't graduate. The changes in policy. Ouch. As soon as you make...

Re: Fisheries Officer (DFO)

-GCT2 -Fishery Officer Knowledge Exam -Written essay portion This was the testing when I went through the process. Not sure if it has changed since. How quick after your application do you write the exams? Is there study aids to prepare? It's been happening pretty quick this time: Nov 2019 - Applie...

Re: Fisheries Officer (DFO)

Hey everyone. I dug through this whole thread but I'm finding some conflicting info on specifically what written exams have to be completed in the testing portion of the process. Could anyone who has been through it just tell me how many separate tests there are and generally what they are testing ...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

https://www.todaysnorthumberland.ca/2020/01/20/correctional-officer-at-warkworth-institution-violently-assaulted/ I toured this facility. It is really interesting in a housing unit with everything stacked up against the CX and their fears of being hit with an excessive force accusation if a violent...
