Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Do you know if OPP hire often experiment agent from other province? I have 3 years in Surete du Quebec and might be interested in a horth posting in ontario, Thanks And is the process long for a experiment agent? There is a bit of a language disconnect here, I think you mean experienced officer. As...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

I did the shuttle run when I did the PIN at the Academy, I prefer it to the run. Getting 50 on the run is difficult, but the rest of the test is pretty simple. Get all your points in the rest of the test, have a decent run, and you'll still have a high score even if it's not perfect. Any recruit who...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Bascially what I'm looking for is feedback on the OPP, as well does anyone know of someone who has gone through the experienced officer program and if so, is it a fairly smooth process? I was planning on speaking with someone in recruiting but I thought I would post on here first to get a member's ...

Re: The Iceman calls it a career

Anyone else remember the original Iceman, Jean-Yves Theriault?? I thought you meant Curly, in the 1941 classic Three Stooges episode "An Ache In Every Stake" http://wpcontent.answcdn.com/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/3e/Acheinstake.jpg/250px-Acheinstake.jpg Some of your long-ago cultural reference...

Re: Quiting and Getting Hired with Another Service

As for the OPC thing, plenty of stories about that. HPS had 3 people in their September intake leave OPC.....the job wasn't what they expected, so they moved on. How would they know the job wasn't what they expected?? They hadn't spent 1 second on the job. It would be more accurate to say OPC wasn'...

Get the boy to bed for 7, get mysef in bed for 9. Up bright and early to work on tomorrow.

The usual New Year's. I haven't left my house on a New Year's (not counting the ones I worked) since 1999. Nor do I have any desire to anymore.

Re: Get a credit check done before appyling.

I have filed a dispute to get it sorted, but man I can only imagine the questions that have raised. Man you are lucky you found that- you would have been gonged FOR CERTAIN. There is no way they would allow those kind of shenanigans. They might have even charged you with fraud! You must make sure y...

Re: Cover letters

Honestly man, the cover letter is a pretty small part of the package, I wouldn't worry about standing out based on your fanciful prose. Just do up a standard cover letter, it's the resume that they're looking at mainly anyway.

Re: Need Guidance

Play lots of hockey. Not to derail here, but wtf does that have to do with policing? Or becoming a better candidate? Not going to mention full details/which service, but I've heard of a service hiring someone whose qualifications consisted almost entirely of improving their league hockey team. I th...

Re: Does job loss affect recruiting process?

Mongo, You mentioned that Security would not be a wise move to make to help out my application. Would something like a customs officer help? Obviously, I know that a more community oriented position would help, I'm just wondering what other kinds of jobs could help my application out next year if t...

I wouldn't go that far. You have to work to be able to get EI in the first place. I deal with lazy people every day who would never become eligible for EI.
