Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

It sounds like you are now trying to divert the blame back on your detachment (and your trainers.). I am sure the RCMP was aware of some auxiliaries acting beyond their mandate, and this may be one reason why they are choosing to clamp down on what was a very good program. Dave, I have too much res...

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

Few programs in Lower Mainland have their own marked cars to use. Ours got re-patched back to police after six or seven months.

The Auxiliary decals on the cars disappeared as suddenly as they came.

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

"How often does this happen? Is the media aware that this is standard practice in some detachments?

Are you asking me Sir if the media knows?, I have no idea. Contact them perhaps?

I'll address your post Sir when I have more time.

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

I agree Stark. I really do. However, "The bolded part nails it." Again.. call it what you want. I don't make the rules. I play within them. If I am given the opportunity, I'll take it. Edit.. "You're also saying that 2 auxiliaries can take out a marked RCMP vehicle without being partn...

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

Dave, I can't speak for all Auxiliaries however I will say that no Aux ever did anything away from the tasks that were given to them by the CO's and with full knowledge of the OCC. "At least some of the blame needs to fall back on those few auxiliaries who decided to go beyond their mandate and...

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

Stark, I read you,... very well.

I am sure he only referred to the CC or Police Act reference than anything else... aka Legal Definition.

I am more than sure the passage wasn't to state that Aux are Police Officers. I don't think any of us think that way.

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

I'm curious to see how many detachments allow for the T3 model vs how many will stick with the safer T1/T2. This whole situation is because of liability so it makes sense that they change the auxiliary uniform and label them with 'volunteer' patches and make it look less like a cops uniform. I used...

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

For Tier2 for sure as it's stated. T3 includes duties listed under T1/T2 plus more.. It doesn't specifically state All duties under T3 will need supervision but I would assume yes. I have experienced being questioned, ignored a few times on shift wearing the Aux patches all over, I can only imagine ...

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

Why "Volunteer"? Because it will be safer that way

And.., my guess, the uniform will change or we will get new pretty vests/patches.

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

m According to the above.. I wonder how will the individual detachments/areas determine who makes T3 and who gets rolled down and what this decision will be based on. Plus.. will all choose to go T3? It appears that there are many doors open. I can see some detachments say: Screw it, we do T1 only. ...

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

You can't just throw a person in the car and expect him/her to know how to properly handle themselves in public, on calls or what have you. More training is needed and more proper hiring too. Was the RCMP Auxiliary program lacking in good hiring practices and training before? The RCMP is a pretty l...

Yes!

But more pass/fail/repete scenario based training would be nice and beneficial to all.

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

@Punisher-One I don't think Ottawa wants the program to continue the old way. If you click on the Feedback link you will find that top brass didn't allow UBCM to share any info with the local Governments. So. as Ottawa is facing a lot of push-back from the Cities, I believe, this has forced them to ...
