Re: BC RCMP Accelerated Recruiting 2013 - Women only.

It's all good to chat it up, but for any applicant who is worried about if the hiring process is 'fair' or not: Do your best and wait your turn. Or, you could express your concern about the unfairness to your nearest recruiting officer and see how far that moves your application along.

Re: JIBC Assessment Centre - department scores

Your score wasn't competitive with New West. It may or not be competitive with another agency. There may be other factors, other than the one test result, that resulted in you being turfed. If you want to work with New West then you should busy yourself on becoming competitive with them, rather than...

I have couple of buddies who went from 0 to being on the road in 10 months.

Wow...that's fast. I can see that being attractive. I thought my agency was pretty quick but less than six months from app to beginning of training is rare.

Re: BC RCMP Accelerated Recruiting 2013 - Women only.

So what is considered 'accelerated'? Instead of a year and a half or so they'll speed women through in 14 months?

Re: 14 Years - Kidnapping/rape of a minor

It brings up the old argument... If his time is going to be concurrent then why not try to escape, resist the Officer, fail to attend court or any other myriad of offences that are often brought together as "one criminal event". Where is the deterrent? You might as well give escape a try ...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

Well isn't this an interesting turn of events. I hope the Officer sues the Ombudsman too. If we made a "public release" calling someone an offender when they weren't, we'd be cutting a cheque. So should he. CO Very true. He won't say how he came by the information, but went ahead and made...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

I particularly enjoy the Chief's comments about how there is no accountability on social networking and he's surprised anyone let alone the ombudsman would lend any credibility to it, and how the ombudsman had said he would co operate fully, but as yet hasn't sat for an interview. Love that. Yes, a...

Re: This will make you never want to eat a hotdog again.

The process by which animals, plants, and by-products are made into packaged food isn't pretty. The best we can hope for is that the processing plants are clean and that the products aren't ridiculously saturated with chemicals by the time they get to the grocery store, and if they are, that they ar...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

Personally, as a citizen, all I care about for my Police Officers is if I dial 911 that they come, whoop dat ass and save mine. Their character and off-duty behaviors mean nothing to me. CO For the most part I agree with you, but I think there is a general belief that those entrusted with my safety...

Re: A nation of $100,000 firefighters

My big issue with the FF is they get paid for sleeping. Roll into work at 1800, make dinner, do some chores, then hit the sack from 2200 to 0700 and get ready to head home after breakfast. To hell with that. If you're on shift getting paid you should be awake and doing something productive. Emergenc...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

The bottom line here is that your conduct off duty reflects on yourself and your agency. Its no different than any other profession really ... would you go to a Doctor that you saw at the bar the night before getting into a barfight? Would you trust a firefighter that you know does drugs? What woul...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

There's an interesting discussion here: here's somebody who is on social media under a name not his own, not connected to his employer, not connected to anything in this person's real life. He did this on purpose, so he could engage in social media interaction WITHOUT bringing his professional reput...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

In today's day and age it become very easy to find out where someone lives or what they do for work, the ability to make such an inference become all to easy, and for anyone to get caught having a public view. that's the key - the Ombudsman is prepared to use whatever means he has to find out who s...

Re: Ontario ombudsman outs Durham police officer

I find this sort of reasoning to be rather disturbing, whereby police officers are held to a standard different than the general public, in that somehow by virtue of their position they have forfeited their rights. In another article in The Star, the writer noted that the officers were going to &qu...
