Re: Police... aren't people.

I didn't read it. I try to stay away from that stuff. This is the world we have become; where once-respected occupations are demonized as a matter of course. It started a while back with lawyers and politicians, progressed through businessmen, civil servants and union members. And now it's on to doc...

Re: Thoughts on this?

I listen to a lot of podcasts and heard this one yesterday. I thought I would share this as I found it to be a very informative discussion. I don't agree with all of it but it did raise some interesting perspectives. It's refreshing to hear a calm, intelligent discussion on such a controversial subj...

Re: Gun Control Vs. Criminal Control

Realistically the problem isn't guns, the problem is criminals. More criminals = more crime. More criminals with guns = more crime. So then wouldn't we want to reduce the potential number of guns available to criminals? Criminal control of guns isn't likely going to change via stricter laws. Crimin...

Re: Gun Control Vs. Criminal Control

There may be a bit of a chicken and egg situation here. Laws tend to be reactionary; the places in the US where strict gun control laws are enacted tend to be the places with the highest rates of gun violence. While strict gun laws may not be doing much if anything to curb gun violence, I think it's...

Switzerland also has very lax gun control yet has very low gun crime.

I would dispute that Switzerland has "very lax gun control". I've seen these claims but the evidence does not bear that out. Swiss gun laws are far more restrictive than in the US.

Re: Gun Control Vs. Criminal Control

I don't see it as Gun Control vs. Criminal Control.; both are important and I'm not sure there is anything more to be done on gun control in this country. "Criminal Control" is a work in progress and it is unlikely that there will be much return on investment. The emphasis should be on ask...

Re: Thoughts on this?

If we leave race aside for a moment, and this is not to deny that it most certainly exists, the common factors that end up with a person having a confrontation with law enforcement tend to be; young men, lack of education, lack of employment, lack of a cohesive family unit, drug and alcohol abuse an...

Re: Buying 511 Pants at reasonable price in Canada

I feel the same way, time to look after my own personal comfort and invest in my own kit. I'm considering shirts as well if anyone has recommendations for a good shirt to wear under body armour that would not stand out too much from our issued crap.

Re: Buying 511 Pants at reasonable price in Canada

I've been considering buying a pair to try out for some time now as CBSA's two-year quest to reinvent the pant drags on. What style do you recommend for warm weather (I'm thinking Taclite Pro?) and how accurate is their sizing? Any issues with the belt loops accommodating our duty belt on any of the...

Yes, often there are reading comprehension questions disguised as mathematics or other types of problems.

Careful reading and following of instructions is another area that can trip people up.

Re: RCMP Uniform

I think events, such as the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando and Moncton shooting, are proof beyond any doubt why frontline police need C8's or their counterparts. Holy cow....... that is truly devastating; it really puts things into perspective! (My thoughts and prayers to those affected and ou...
