Re: Ask the CBSA!

Hi guys, I have passed the OTEE and have been waiting for the interview since March 2019. Just wondering if has something to do with the numbers of working locations I picked at the beginning of the application? And if so, can I contact CBSA to change my selection and hoping the process would be sl...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Hi guys, Wondering if anyone has any idea how difficult it is to get posted in Atlantic Canada? I’m from New Brunswick and there doesn’t seem to be many recruits from this area on the forum, I’m hoping to get an idea if many seats are available in NS, NB or pei.. Also if hoping for a job in New Bru...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

SBSOs and BSOs are really really really not the same thing. While Students are excellent for the supplementary function they provide to the operation, it's a completely different structure. Since FSWEP functions as it's name would suggest, as a work experience program, and it's budget is independen...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

If you have not done your security clearance or it's in process you should tell CBSA and CBSA security clearance team that you have moved to a new place with new address and work/school information and address. Similarly you should tell them the last date of your previous place of residence/workpla...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Does anybody know what regions are in highest demand? Or how they determine who gets assigned to a marine unit etc? From the lists I saw in Rigaud, Prairie Region usually has the most seats. As for marine units, you can get into Vancouver marine right out of Rigaud. During the course of my applicat...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I second this, all you see on their social media is recruiting saying that there are no specific dates determined yet for the next hiring process, and to sign up to the e-mail alerts service on the Government of Canada's website. However, they seem to be updating their Become a border services offi...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Hi Guys! Congrats to all about the progress you made these past months. Does anybody know if there will be a posting coming up soon? Thanks No one but recruiting has that info. You can email them, but they'll probably just tell you to monitor the Jobs.gc.ca website. Which is the best thing to do. I...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

+1 to the transfers question. Anyone have any idea how that process works? Say your in Manitoba and want to get posted to Toronto or Vancouver? Its probably been discussed prior, but if anyone has any recent info it would be greatly appreciated! So in general, the entire CBSA posting system...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

FB-02 to start. If you have time in with the Feds, it will help in terms of leave, seniority, pension etc. I can't confirm whether or not it will bump your pay once you're appointed to FB-03, but like Zedlinka stated, everyone starts at FB-02 Step 1. That's a little bit too bad, to be honest, espec...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

For starting salary, will we still get paid at the "proper" minimum step we'd be at per the TB? I.e. like Step 0 if you only have high school, 1 for college, 2 for undergrad, 3 for Master's etc? I don't think I've seen anything definitive about that yet. To the best of my knowledge, everyone starts...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I’m just throwing this out there. Im not in anyway applying solely on the salary. Im just wondering... are the salaries listed on the CBSA page final salaries? $69,486 to $82,411 (FB-03) Or this is before all the shift/weekend/holiday premiums etc? How much can a FB-03 expect to make ? I believe th...

Re: FSWEP SBSO 2019-20

Hello sir, I would like to know if we need to be prepared for any type of physical exam like PARE or something during medical exam or any other time? Ma'am will do ;) and yes, you will have to pass the PARE prior to being accepted to OITP and you will have to complete it twice in Rigaud as well. Se...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Why did you guys call and leave a SIN? My email made no mention of such a thing and left no number... Maybe it'll help make payroll stuff get processed quicker? Since it's already been said on here it can take up to 8 weeks after you start working before you start getting paid, which is ridiculous.

How long advance notice did they give you for the interview? Did they make you travel for it?
About one month in advance

I was out of Canada, I flew for the interview 88)
Thanks for the information! A month is pretty decent advance notice!
