Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Integrity interview March 5th. Seeing the timelines here I know I shouldn't get my hopes too high but still. Things are moving nicely so far! Glad to hear you have a date for this! Based on what I've read here just be dressed for success and answer questions embarrassingly honest haha. Will you nee...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

I have been screened out in 2018/08 in my psych evaluation. It's almost the 2 year mark so I am starting to look into and prepare myself for the process again. I have a bachelor's degree and my gun certification so I can guess that I will skip those steps. I would need to redo my pare. I'm wonderin...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

I see that there is a three week gap between the end of online and the intake date. Does anything happen during that time that requires my physical presence or would I be able to visit my family abroad for a week or two. In guessing I could also maybe go during the online since it's all digital? If...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Anybody know what will cause an unsuccessful medical exam? Not sure what to expect The only way to fail the medical exam is to not have a heart beat, even then you might still pass. Nothing to worry about. I agree to an extent, for the physical part I definitely feel it's hard to fail unless there'...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Anyone know if having a laptop at Rigaud is recommended? They give you a learning laptop with no wifi, the CBSA site says. You can take your own for your free time, I guess. Laptops in the learning room (when I visited in January 2020) were pretty decent, i7, 1080P 15.6" screens. Here's what a sear...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

In Quebec you have to take the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) from official instructors, you can't take one from a Joe Blow backwoods organization. See link below. https://www.fqtir.qc.ca/en/become-a-target-shooter/crfsc/ The rules are the same for all CFSC and CRFSC in Canada, ...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Pretty much, I think its the mmpi (which you could lookup) and then you book your face to face. Goodluck! Thanks! So after i’ve done the mmpi how long I can book the face to face? Coz I’m living out of the country now. I just wanna get the heads up Email this detail (that you live abroad) to...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

In their OIM document published in October of 2018, they mention that it’s taking too long for applicants to become BSOs from the time their application is pulled until they are invited to the online training portion of the selection process. The average time, per their research, is 12-14 months an...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

To sum up and average the experience of other users on here, I'd say be prepared to wait a while, and be prepared to travel on your dollar for a lot of those steps. Wait times have improved, however; expect about a year before security. Security is at least 6 months or less if you've been very good...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

Hey guys, I'm waiting to start my OITP in two weeks and in meantime I was wondering if I could get any insight on what the shiftwork is like at the CBSA. How long are shifts usually, how many days on and off? I imagine it varies by requirements and ports. How much break time do you get and is all o...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

Yup. Tough love. I just watched another video of an officer not controlling their muzzle direction, and shooting a colleague in the back. Thankfully, she will recover. Sadly, there have been a few police incidents in Canada where it ended much more tragically. The PROVE procedure saves lives. And, ...

Re: Ask the CBSA!

How long does it usually take to get invited for the psychological test/ application process for security clearance after the interview?? I had my interview in September and passed it without a hitch. However it’s been sometime since I heard anything following that. I’m from the hiring process just...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

I just got bounced from my application process for not having a full G licence, which was NEVER a requirement when I applied, even though they're claiming it always was! They told me to apply to the next posting but there hasn't been a posting in a year if not more and I've already been waiting alm...

Re: GENERAL CBSA APPLICANT CHIT CHAT

It always amazes me when I read how applicants want to hold off on the CFSC/CRFSC until absolutely necessary; wait until the last minute; or, look for the shortest/cheapest course out there that they can find. Good grief. Take it NOW. Look for the longest, most expensive and BEST CFSC/CRFSC course ...
