Re: Potential police applicant? Good applicant?

Can't tell if that's a serious post or not. If it is... there's not much more to say other than apply and find out. People keep coming back here asking that same question and it's always the same answer given. Recruiters are different. Some might expect more than others. All depends on what you get....

Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

I was actually asking in the sense that they were doing full duties. I know with the situation going on right now things are different. Just wondering how aux who attend post secondary and work at the same time as volunteering balance things out. Don't wanna hijack the thread from its purpose so I d...

Tango5, are you currently doing post secondary? Feel free to PM. Just had a few inquiries about the life of an aux, lol.

Re: Toronto Police - Modernization Changes

Oh yeah. Based off of the choices, I personally like the sound of the 4/4 12h. I was just wondering if it was good for a service such as TPS. I don't know the call loads they receive daily but something tells me it's higher in comparison to other GTA services.

I assume by we you mean TPS.

If so, could you go further as to why you think that? Although I have no LE experience at all, just reading DW's post made me feel like that /would/ be a bad idea.

Re: Encrypted scanners

The public don't need to hear our comms. Simple as that. If something happens that the public needs to know about, they will be informed; whether it's through a media release, social media post, radio, etc. I certainly don't want some random person knowing where I am and what I'm doing all the time...

Encrypted scanners

I've always wondered what frontline Constable felt about this. You could say it's obvious but opinions vary right? I personally don't mind them being encrypted. However, a lot of freelancers don't. I did like listening to my local service though. Too bad I was too young to help when and where I could!

Re: Q regarding 400 series

OPP does not do municipal policing in large urban areas. Traffic on provincially-owned roads only. Not sure if it still works that way, but at one time if there was a serious criminal offence (e.g. murder) on such a highway, the Municipal service would step in and take over the investigation (e.g. ...

Re: Q regarding 400 series

Highway Safety Division is only in the GTA. . HSD isn't only in the GTA. Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury, Northbay all have HSD units. So are those units within detachments? Edit: OK, I think I solved my confusion. Can GTA region detachments do municipal policing IF OPP was contracted to do so? IE Aurora ...
