Re: EDiv A/Cst's petition to Minister of Public Safety

I've seen 2 Auxiliary Cst's on patrol in a marked police car before. They stopped at one of our calls one time to see if they could help, which was nice of them, even though we didn't need any help. The Burnaby detachment at one time had a patrol car marked as a A/Cst patrol car. I'm not sure if the...

Re: Ask A BC Sheriff

I wonder if the Gov of BC wants to privatize court security. Doesn't make sense to me to have a part time law enforcement agency. I would take it with a grain of salt, but a Sheriff actually told me that at one point the BC Government had actually looked into privatizing court security and were loo...

Re: Why arent Correctional Peace Officer under Peace officer

I wouldn't worry about the Corrections Act vs the Peace Officer Act at this point in time. You can worry about it after you're finished dealing with your current issue. Perhaps the Peace Officer Act is something your union could help you pursue. Deal with your current issue first. PS. It's not a goo...

Re: Will British Columbia adopt Community Peace Officers?

There is case law in BC that says Bylaw Officers are Peace Officers. I have noticed that some Bylaw Enforcement departments have "Peace Officer" on their shoulder flashes. One case that I have a link for is Regina V. TURKO. m As for a Community Peace Officer program like Alberta? That woul...

Re: Encrypted scanners

For the first few years after I started, we had analog radios that anyone with a scanner could listen to. Now we have digital radios that a local scanner group hates because it is supposedly unmonitorable by a scanner.

What does the book say? 'Sigh' Buddy, If you dont know the answer to something. Please feel free to ignore the thread. Thanks Don't just assume he doesn't know the answer. A lot of people come in here and ask questions without even trying to look up the answer for themselves. If you honestly tried ...

Re: BC Corrections CVSA

Hi everyone, I've been lurking the forums here for a while but just registered today as I have a question. I am currently in the recruitment process for a BC Correctional Officer position. I was wondering if anyone here has completed the CVSA for BC Corrections? The thing I am most worried about is...

I had the pleasure of chatting with these guys for a few minutes yesterday at work. They seemed to be very professional and wanting to make the community a better place. Hopefully they will get more duties added as time goes.

Re: RCMP auxiliary officers furious with proposed changes

In Vancouver, the VPD has a Traffic Authority Unit as well as Community Safety Officers. Both are sworn Special Municipal Constables. Maybe Toronto should utilize something like that? Having said that, I believe there are still call outs for Regular Members for movie shoots, etc... In BC, Security ...

Re: RCMP auxiliary officers furious with proposed changes

Provincial offences officers could be deployed at construction sites instead of paid-duty officers. Sorry why can't security officers be doing that? Train them in traffic control and bill the cost to the construction firms. Why do you need a police officer or provincial offences officer to direct t...

Re: Surrey Community Patrol Officers

Exactly. Worse of all, I didn't have cuffs NOR a vest.. and working in some sketchy neighborhoods, plain stupid on my part. LP can be pretty dangerous - organized crime, tough guy shitrats, career thieves, homeless people with diseases, weapons, etc. Unless they want you to passively arrest people ...

Re: Surrey Community Patrol Officers

I did LP for a few months without AST.. Never again. That sounds like a bad experience. They didn't expect you to go hands-on did they? I was bouncing and wanted to branch out with security. Tried LPO.. I wasn't a fan. Risk of getting stabbed for $12.00 an hour... Pass. Check this video out: m
