Constable for Senate Protective Services

I've been accepted to write the test for the Senate Protective Service's Constable position. Has anyone taken this test before? Do you have any suggestions on how I should prepare for it?

Since it's already been derailed, I wanted to let you know that I have a small hosting biz. If you need hosting, let me know.

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

I dropped my resumes off to the local branches in my area. Hours depend on location and the time of the year. As part time casual, we fill in for full timers who are off. Summers are busy. I was getting 30-40 hours per week when I first started. Christmas is also busy. Everything else is less busy a...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

Pay varies. I was told that Brinks offers about $14.60 for the area I was in. Garda is in the $18.xx area. Different things pay better or worse. If you're not working outside the branch, you can make $18 during the day with a $1 premium for night work. Working in the branch typically means you make ...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

nice intake spooky, can you be a little more specific on your experience ? like the tactical part ? and how is it dealing with people in this kind of job ? what about their perceptions of you? Since there has been two shootings in Toronto alone since the start of 2014, I don't want to speak at all ...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

Been working with Garda for a few months now. It's interesting. It's similar to fed-ex with a gun but it's more technical than I realized in a lot of ways. Plus, if fed-ex misplaces a package I'm not sure it's as big a deal as if I were to misplace a package.

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

I havent hit the road yet... That may be more enjoyable... If you are a driver, it won't be especially if you are still a part-timer and don't have your own route. Vault your hours are pretty much set. On the road...you have a definate start time and that's it, you finish when you finish. It's not ...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

Maybe I will, maybe I won't. I do know that I'll have two weeks of training and additional new life experiences that may be valuable. I'm also interested in the responsibility of being in charge of highly valuable cargo. I'm not getting into this to play sheriff. I think that it'll be a good experie...

Re: Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

My heart is set on policing and I'm trying to get a new job that has more responsibility, shift work, pays better, etc. I think this is a good next step.

Brinks vs Garda (G4S) to work for

I'm slotted for training with Brinks and I'm waiting to hear back about my application with Garda. One of my references was called so I should be hearing back soon. I'm having to make a decision on which to work for and that's the point of this thread. I currently work for about $13/hour and get 37-...

Re: York Regional's Values based hiring interview

I called and asked if it was the ECI and they said it wasn't because it was based on their values. They said it was similar though. The concerning part is if I'm doing the ECI I'd like to know about it. If I fail and need to wait 6 months for all services, I'd like to know that before going into the...

York Regional's Values based hiring interview

I have a values based hiring interview coming up. I understand it'll be about the values of York Regional Police Service but I'd like to know more about the interview in general. I'd imagine its similar to a local focus plus the values.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Re: Failed ECI, what next?

I've done about 8-10 ride alongs and I loved them. I'm trying my best to get into a police car again... just not the back seat. The ride along program was eye opening and more fun than I could have anticipated.

Re: Failed ECI, what next?

That's a good idea re: Montreal jersey. I work in a call center so I deal with confrontation every day. Unfortunately if it's not face to face it's much harder if it's even accepted at all. I don't normally find myself in situations where people are pissed at me. I need to be more of an asshole so s...

Re: Failed ECI, what next?

Thanks for the information. The other competencies are easier for me to experience. My issue is that I work at a call center. I deal with confrontational people all day but the interviewers said that they would have a hard time accepting an over the phone confrontation. I definitely see where they'r...
