Re: Auxiliary Officers Pay

Good evening all, Can someone tell me whether Auxiliary Police Officers are paid an hourly rate or any financial compensation for the service / commitment they provide? Or are they full volunteer status in the sense of non payment or even expenses? Hope someone can help with this. Thanks *Edit - In...

Re: OPP Applicant Updates Thread

Am I misinterpreting this? OPP emails their job offers? No phone call? I'm not an applicant, just curious.

Re: Engineering Degree to RCMP Applicant (or others)

If you would love to live in Calgary, apply to CPS. Wanting to move to Calgary and applying to the RCMP doesn't really make much sense seeing as you are signing up to go wherever is needed.

Re: Toronto Police Service

There's no secret gateway or correct pathway to take to employment. I know several constables who got hired at 18, 19, 20 years of age. Could you argue they have a strong work history or even any life experience? I wouldn't. The average 18 year old has exactly little to no real world experience oth...

Re: Toronto Police Service

I don't think so. The former head of employment (recruiting) at TPS would disagree with you. Auxiliaries get first preference for PC roles. Not to mention: crowd control, foot patrol and scene management is considered law enforcement duties. They wouldn't carry an ASP and cuffs if they didn't engag...

To assume such a thing will prove to be disappointing. Confidence is one thing, arrogance is another. Good luck with the process.

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

Of all the steps, and they are all challenging and difficult in their own way, the most difficult has now proven to be the wait once your file moves on to the selection committee. I'm honestly happy to have made it this far, no matter the outcome, as the experience alone has been worth it. I had nev...

Re: Durham Regional Police Service

Past drug use wouldn't be the deal breaker, it's that you did it in October. Plenty of people with lots to offer who have never done drugs let alone used it a couple months ago.

Re: Durham Regional Police Service

I know I should be asking this in a DRUG forum but they all seem to be dated.. I'm wondering on durham's take on Marijuana use. Do they apply the "3 year drug free" rule of thumb to filter out applicants? My specific situation is I used to smoke Marijuana up until October 2015, and stoppe...

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

I'm wondering how EPS communicates with applicants, I submitted my package 2 weeks ago as an OOP applicant and was wondering if I should be looking out for an email or perhaps a letter in the mail regarding the next step? Thank you all. M. Hey Foxtrot, All of my initial communication was through em...

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

My week of testing is finally upon me as an out of province applicant. I don't feel nervous at the moment but I feel excited to prove my worth. I guess that shows the importance of applying when you truly feel ready and competitive. I probably just jinxed myself, let's hope I don't choke. Thanks to ...

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

Just booked my flight and hotel for my week of testing in November. I think I've gained some BDI stories just for juggling my work/school/volunteering as well as preparing every day for that week! I even booked an early renewal for my Ontario Prep test for next week just to get a reminder of what to...

Re: Failed the Pati and Wct

If i failed both the Pati and the Wct for the first time, is it worth appealing or just waiting 3 months and taking them all over again? Thank What would your basis for appeal be? Just wait the 3 months and give it another crack. Plenty of people have trouble the first go around, if not the 2nd. At...
